Anthony Mackie, the not-so-fresh, no-so-new experience of Captain America, told a media group in Rome this year,” To me, Captain America represents a lot of different items and I don’t think the term,’ America,’ should be one of them”.

A few Disney professionals slapping a hundred Disney foreheads made that tone, as you just heard. Probably their own, but seriously, who knows or cares?
Kidding aside, there might have been a method to Mackie’s off-putting crazy, believe it or not.
One of my online friends, George MF Washington, is a (quietly ) conservative Hollywood screenwriter in real life. If you aren’t reading his Substack, you should be. On X this night, George reminded me that Disney uses its expression to “neuter” patriotic American films in order to adapt them to international audiences, like Communist China.
They made Captain Generic Moral Code# 5 because they were so determined not to annoy international film people, George said. It’s possible that Disney marketing instructed Mackie to suggest that Captain America doesn’t represent America. Because he’s both good and strong, I suppose.
” I would advise Marvel that if you don’t know who you’re making the movie for”, George continued, “you’re making it for nothing”.
Really. What I said on X about that was that “people want the book’s account to meet the cover.” We want the grain that’s on the field. We want the tag to match the top. So when the guy’s title is CAPTAIN AMERICA, you’d better throw some all-caps AMERICA in the damned movie”.
But to solve George’s level, there’s this:
Broadly speaking, hero, sci-fi, and horror comedies are made for young boys, young people, middle-aged guys wishing we were also young, and the women who put up with us. That’s the demonstration.

Do you want to know how to write, produce, and ( to today’s point ) market a movie with Captain America in it?
That’s an easy one. You used a similar situation throughout the drama and all of the promotional materials:
That picture is from the very first Avengers film that was released in 2012. I may have watched the entire film a few days, but the moment still makes me sigh. The only authentic Captain America there was Steve Rogers, who was proudly American. Because it is written in big letters right there on the field, AMERICA. Because he was both good and strong.
Mackie’s Marvel movie character, Sam” The Falcon” Wilson, adopted the Captain America name and shield in the cringe-inducingly woke Disney + series,” The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”. It was not well-received.  ,
However, Disney doubled down with a film that has gone through two or three names, huge edits, budget-busting reshoots, and difficulties. Then called” Captain America: Brave New World”, the flick is tracking for a meh-ish$ 90 million open trip.
But because of all those rewrites and reshoots, the budget — not including marketing — is believed to be somewhere north of$ 400 million. Including promotion,” Brave New World” will have to split ONE BILLION DOLLARS to present a profit.
Never Gonna Happen is a steaming bowl filled with Mackie and Disney.

My counsel to Mackie is easy. Disregard the bone-headed promotion people who hate America and only read the place, man— or, more precisely, read the MAGA country. It is not the right time to get disparaging America right now. Since the second act of” Star Wars,” when Grand Moff Tarkin was informed by an aide that they had analyzed the Rebellion’s invasion strategy and that they might punch up the Death Star, I haven’t heard comments that are so inappropriate. Would he be willing to leave the deliver? ” Evacuate, in our moment of triumph”? Tarkin sarcastically replied. Next Luke Skywalker blew up the Death Star.  ,
But I’d wager following month’s car payment that a large space station going boom also didn’t be as great a bomb as” Captain America: Brave New World”. Regarding the Disney board, I’m certain that they have now dismissed Brave New World as a Pretty Expensive Flop.
