Scientists who created the first atomic weapons discovered a way to determine how close the earth was to nuclear extermination in 1947. To celebrate the launch of the first issue of their publication, they created a” Doomsday Clock.” The clock was set at midnight according to the Bulletin of Atomic Professionals ‘ support.

All was aware that the Soviet Union may soon possess nuclear arms, despite the fact that there was no other country that had them. Sure enough, in 1949, the Soviets detonated a system in Central Asia, setting off an arms race. The nuclear scientists increased the time to three minutes before midnight by saying,” We do not suggest Americans that doom is approaching and that they can expect nuclear bombs to began falling on their mind in a month or year from now.” However, we believe they have good reason to be greatly concerned and ready to make tough choices.
Since then, the list of nuclear nations has grown to nine, with several other nations capable of building a bomb ( Japan, Germany, Iran ) but not declaring active programs.  ,
The time was changed from two minutes to midnight when the United States detonated its second gas bomb in 1952 and the Russians followed in 1953.
With the drafting of the Test Ban Treaty in 1960, they rearranged the process to seven days. After the Cuban Missile Crisis was resolved happily, they moved the clocks to 12 minutes to midnight.
With Ronald Reagan’s victory in 1981, the calendar dropped to just two minutes to midnight, then the time went back to seven hours after the signing of the START treaty, and finally went all the way up to 12 hours in 1990 with the collapse of the Soviet Union.
The molecular scientists were finding the drama of a possible nuclear war to be a little tiresome, but they included climate change on the list of disasters that may end the world’s fate. In 2020, the calendar moved to 100 hours to evening.

The Atomic writer’s eyes are on the verge of blowing due to the Ukraine war and Donald Trump’s victory. They moved the Doomsday Clock to 89 hours to midnight, better than it’s ever been.
In 2024, society edged actually closer to crisis. National leaders and their civilizations have failed to take necessary steps despite undeniable warning signs of danger. The Science and Security Board sends a stark message by moving the clock one minute closer to midnight: Because the world is already dangerously close to the brink, even a single move should be seen as an indicator of serious danger and an undeniable warning that a minute of delay in reversing course makes the world a harm yet more dangerously close to disaster.
The Chicago Atomic Scientists group, which was the original nuclear scientists, wanted the US government to grant control of the bomb to a group of global scientists who would provide universal access to nuclear power. They were the original nuclear scientists.
It was insane, of training. When setting the Doomsday Clock, molecular scientists haven’t changed much since then.
Artificial intelligence has been added as a danger in this year’s Doomsday Clock, which is one change. Daniel Holz, president of the Bulletin’s Science and Security Board, believes AI married to defense systems and “misinformation” may mean windows for us all.  ,
In 2024, artificial intelligence experienced rapid increases in potential and popularity, which prompted growing concern among some experts about its potential applications in the military and its dangers for global security. In October, former US President Joe Biden signed an executive order to lessen the dangers that AI poses for national security, the business, and public safety. Donald Trump, his replacement, removed it last week.
Advancements in AI are beginning to appear on the field in hesitant but alarming ways, with particular concern given the potential for future uses of AI to nuclear weapons. In contrast, AI is extremely disrupting the world’s information ecosystem. AI-fueled propaganda and propaganda will only add to this dysfunction”, Holz said.

It’s foolish for a group of experts to claim that the world’s end is in danger of being realized. When the time was at 12 minutes, I believe the world was just as near to death as it is currently. The distinction is in view. And the nuclear experts certainly have made a lot of money out of the misconception that they have a good sense of what to believe when it comes to forecasting the end of the world.
