Deputy Chief of Staff Retired General Mark Milley has been informed by Pentagon officials that he is revoking both his safety depth and security clearance, according to a source close to Pentagon. Additionally, Pentagon officials indicated that Hegseth is ordering a review to ascertain whether Milley should be fired once he retires.
According to NBC News, John Ullyot, a Pentagon spokesman, said that Hegseth has ordered the Department of Defense’s investigator common to study” the facts and circumstances” regarding Milley’s actions” so that the Secretary may decide whether it is acceptable to resume his military grade review determination”.
Politico reported that Milley, who is a retired four-star public, may be demoted to a retired three-star public as a result of the examiner general’s research ordered by Hegseth.
