Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles, made a major perform this week by resurrecting the Pacific Palisades in her own style. Needless to say, it won’t be pretty.

In other words: this is going to take some time. Big-name consultants may spent big on big-name contractors to give the Palisades a large state renovation instead of a fairly simple process of homeowners filing their insurance claims and rebuilding after the money and the permits come by.

However, that’s exactly the case.
With people obstructing the procedure and having no oversight, Bass will continue to work toward her goal of rebuilding the Palisades “in a more equitable and economically sustainable way,” as she put it. I’m picturing government-spec house buildings and other residential dwellings on burned-out plenty where single-family houses used to have. Those 15-minute locations don’t develop themselves, you know — generally because, given the choice, individuals reject them.
I was kidding about the Mayor-for-Life issue. Mainly. No one is a fan of Bass well enough to overthrow the two-term suspension that has been in place since 1993. Mainly. Her large perform this week is likely to have generated enough money to make it unlikely to reverse, cementing Bass as a power gamer for a long time to arrive.  ,
