President Donald Trump’s “largest-ever” mass deportation has led to the detention of hundreds of illegal immigrants in the first 10 weeks of his administration, but the new leadership has a way to go if it intends to beat the Obama government’s large first-term numbers.
The procedure started on Day One, Jan. 20, with detention of unlawful refugees across the country, and it has quickly ramped up since then. It topped 2, 300 detention in the first week, reaching nearly 5, 500 in 10 days.
The 500, 000 to 1 million illegal immigrants with criminal records will soon be subject to deportation under Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s ideas.
The Trump-Vance management wants to remove people who have already been ordered to do so by a national immigration judge in addition to thieves.
At last count, roughly , 1.4 million  , citizens have been ordered deported and are still in the U. S., according to a November statement by Fox News.
” The amounts that they’re putting up , are traditional, but it’s also a lot less than the target amount would be if this is the largest-ever or the most important ever”, said a senior administration official with firsthand knowledge of the procedure, who asked to speak on the condition of anonymity. They must scale up more if they want to reach a meaningful number by the end of the calendar year.
According to the same official, the arrest figures for the most part have been “historic” and have increased by two to three times since the first Trump administration and the Biden administration.
” If I’m Caleb Vitello or Tom Homan or other people that are in the know, you’re thinking,’ The numbers are great. I love that we’re back in business, but they’re not good enough to meet what the expectations were,'” said the administration official.
ICE arrests under Biden between fiscal 2021 and 2024 ranged from an average of 200 to 470 per day, depending on the year. A total of 500, 000 arrests occurred in that period.
During Trump’s first term in office from 2017 to 2020, daily arrests ranged from , 280 to 440 for a total of 548, 000 arrests in four years.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained an average of 882 illegal immigrants per day in 2011, the highest level of his eight years in office.  , That year, more than 311, 000 immigrants were arrested.
In Obama’s second term, more than 641, 000 arrests occurred.
In all, more than 1.2 million people were arrested from 2009 to 2012.
At Trump’s present rate, he would finish the calendar year with 200, 000 arrests. Even if he kept up that pace for four years, he still wouldn’t be able to surpass Obama’s 1.2 million arrests in four years.
ICE is pursuing specific individuals within communities by obtaining people directly from neighborhood jails where it has requested that particular inmates be turned over.
The issue is that some” sanctuary” jurisdictions are only allowed to release illegal immigrants from jail.

The Biden administration stopped conducting worksite security checks or entering job sites that had failed to comply with worker audits.
Some in the public, who view hardworking immigrants as the victims, fear that ICE might make hundreds more arrests every day if Trump restarts those operations.
