A star-studded fund-raiser at the renowned Hotel Bel-Air was attended by some prominent Indian-Americans to raise money for the families of children and their families who have been affected by the devastating Los Angeles fire. The fund-raiser, Up for LA, was hosted by writer and podcast host Jay Shetty and real estate investor and Camelback Productions movie maker, Anita Verma-Lallian, bringing together 200 humanitarian guests from places all over America, next Sunday. More than$ 500,000 was raised in the relief effort, which will be directly donated to Baby2Baby, a US nonprofit that has already distributed over$ 6 million in emergency supplies to children and families affected by the devastating Los Angeles fires.
Verma-Lallian, who leads the renowned real estate firm Arizona Land Consulting, made headlines last October when she purchased and moved into the original Matthew Perry residence in Pacific Palisades. She had previously stated on social media that despite saving her own apartment, many others in her neighborhood had been ruined by the fire. She is also the owner of Camelback Productions, a company that amplifies South Eastern tones in Hollywood.
” I think everyone in LA knows someone who lost all, and that is why we are all around today”, Verma-Lallian said at the fund-raising event. She even shared tales of fire victims and about neighbors who banded together to save each other’s homes.
Significant friends included artist Kumail Nanjiani, interior architect Kelly Wearstler, chairman of It Makeup &, bestselling author Jamie Kern Lima, father Dhar Mann and actor Lilly Singh. Specific activities like two Elton John Academy Awards see group tickets and signed memorabilia like a piano that the Beatles have all been signed by people on the walls lined the walls. A lottery for a 3-carat$ 38, 000 band created by rare jewel seller, Anup Jogani, was likewise held. Shetty invited everyone present to a meditation session at the event, and the whole group sat on the floor of the Hotel Bel-Air room to create a time of recovery and reflection. ” In moments of great tragedy and stress we often look for certainty, try to look for stability … things we can hold onto. These are items that are very instinctive. In times of doubt, the metaphysical path doesn’t search for clarity. It is to appear for assistance. To look for opportunities to serve and give up, help another, and uplift. Because of the uncertainty we seek, we might not discover it, he said.
Through Baby2Baby’s message and visuals as well as profound videos from fire survivors, Up for LA also made its mission known.
