After the Washington DC helicopter crash that killed 67 people on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump has assured that his administration may set the “highest probable table for aircraft health” in the nation.
Additionally, he criticized diversity initiatives at the federal aviation administration, claiming they lowered criteria for air traffic controllers. He also attributed Pete Buttigieg, the transport secretary, and the Obama administration’s decision to hire” too white” people to the FAA workforce.
Authorities have recovered the journey statistics record and cockpit voice recorder, commonly known as black containers, from the American Airlines aircraft, CBS News reported.
About three miles from the White House and the US Capitol, the collision took place in restricted airspace at around 9 p.m. ( local time ). By Thursday night, officials had transitioned from a search-and-rescue function to a healing energy.
Ten points Trump said during the plane collision are listed below:
On helicopter fall sensor
Trump claimed that there were some “very solid opinions and ideas” that could have caused the crash. He stated that the US military, the NTSB, and FAA may conduct an investigation into the situation.
We do not know what led to this crash, but we have some pretty strong opinions and ideas, and I think we’ll definitely state those opinions then because over the years I’ve watched as things like this happen and they say,’ Well, we’re constantly investigating,’ “he said.
” And then the inspection, three years later, they announce it.’ We believe we have some solid concepts. But we’ll find out how this crisis happened, and he added, “we’ll ensure that nothing like this actually happens afterwards.”
‘ Diversity’: Trump on trigger of the accident
Trump attributed the accident to diversification requirements set by the FAA and his Democrat successors, claiming lax requirements for air traffic controllers were a factor. Nevertheless, he provided no evidence linking variety applications to the accident.
” For some tasks, we need the highest degree of talent, “he said.
The FAA’s diversification initiative places an emphasis on hiring individuals with severe academic and medical disabilities. That is incredible. Therefore it says that people with severe disabilities are the most underserved group of workers and that they want them in. They can be air traffic controllers. I don’t suppose so. Since January 14th was the day before I started in business, I had a year to go. They put a major drive to place variety into the FAA’s system, “he said.
When asked how he had drawn this realization, Trump replied:” Because I have popular feeling. OK? And sadly, a lot of people don’t. We want outstanding individuals to do this. This is a significant games activity at its highest levels. When you have 60 planes coming in during a short period of time, and they’re all coming in various directions, and you’re dealing with really high-level pc, pc work and quite complex computers.”
Trump questions secretary Pete Buttigieg’s aviation policies
The US president claimed that aviation safety has descended into a “disaster” ever since the Federal Aviation Administration was being run by secretary Pete Buttigieg.
” That’s the guy’s a real winner. Do you know how badly everything’s run since he’s run this Department of Transportation? He’s a disaster. He was a disaster as a mayor. He ran his city into the ground and he’s a disaster now, “he said.
” He’s just got a good line of bullshit. The Department of Transportation, his government agency charged with regulating civil aviation while he runs it, 45, 000 people and he is run it right into the ground with his diversity. So I had to say that it’s terrible, “he added.
‘ Very mediocre’: Trump on Obama-era aviation standards
Trump asserted that when he took over in 2016, aviation standards from the Obama era were “very mediocre” and he changed them to “extraordinary.”
We must have only the highest standards for those employed by our aviation system. I upgraded the Obama standards from being at best very subpar to extraordinary. You remember that. Only the most advanced individuals, who also have the highest intelligence, and those with psychological superiority were permitted to work as air traffic controllers. That was not so prior to getting there, “he said.
When I first started working there in 2016, I knew right away that this was a job that required superior intelligence, and I always felt that way, too. We didn’t really have that, but we did, he continued.
Biden restored them to their lowest levels ever.
He then claimed that Joe Biden’s presidency since 2020 changed changed the aviation standards” back to lower than ever before.”
Obama Biden and the Democrats put policy first, and they never saw politics at a level comparable to what they saw because it was at the lowest level. Their politics and policy were both awful and flawed. So, as you may well know, I signed an executive order last week, much to the day before the crash, to restore our highest standards for air traffic controllers and other crucial positions throughout the nation, he said.
” Signed executive order to establish highest aviation standard practicable.”
Trump claimed that he had signed executive orders to set the “highest possible bar for aviation safety.”
By the way, I signed an executive order last week that was very powerful in restoring the highest standards of air traffic controllers and others, about a week after I almost entered office. Then, according to his words, my administration will set the highest standards for aviation safety.
” We have to have our smartest people. It doesn’t matter what they look like, how they speak, who they are. It matters- intellect, talent. The word talent. You have to be talented, naturally talented geniuses. You can’t have regular people carrying out that task. They won’t be able to do it, “he added.
A” confluence of bad decisions”
Trump claimed that there were” a confluence of bad decisions that were made and you have people who lost their lives, violently lost their lives” when talking about the crash.
” So you had a helicopter going in identical direction. You had a helicopter that was the exact same height as a helicopter moving in the opposite direction. You had a plane that was following a track, which is a track that every other plane followed and I don’t imagine, I know I’ve heard today that they might’ve been following the preceding plane, which was pretty close, but not that close, the preceding plane. However, due to the direction that the helicopter was heading, you wouldn’t even be able to see that, he said.
Calling for fast confirmations
Sean Duffy was sworn in as the new transportation secretary, according to Trump.
Answering a question on Duffy being confirmed as transportation secretary, he said:” For sure, we want fast confirmations. And the Democrats, as you know, are doing everything they can to delay. They’ve taken too long. We’re having a hard time finding trustworthy individuals who are known to be confirmed. But we’re struggling to get them out faster. We want them out faster.”
Condoling the deaths of those who died in helicopter crashes
” This was a dark and excruciating night in our nation’s capital and in our nation’s history and a tragedy of terrible proportions. As one nation, we grieve for every precious soul that has been taken from us so suddenly, and we are a country of really, we are in mourning. This is really shaking a lot of people, including people very sadly, from other nations who were on the flight, “he said.
Our friends are shattered alongside yours, and our prayers are with you now and in the days to come, on behalf of the First Lady, myself, and 340 million Americans. We’ll be working very, very diligently in the days to come. We’re here for you to wipe away the tears and to offer you our devotion, our love and our support. It’s great support. In situations like this, the similarities between Americans are indistinguishable from the affection and loyalty that define us all, as Americans and even as nations. We are one family, and today we are all heartbroken. We’re all searching for answers, “he added.
reassured people that it is safe to fly
Trump said it was safe to fly, and that people shouldn’t be hesitant to do so.
” No. Not at all. I would not be hesitant to take a plane. This is something that it’s been many years that something like this has happened, and the collision is just something that, we don’t expect ever to happen again, “he said
” Flying is very safe. We have the safest flying anywhere in the world, and we’ll keep it that way, “he added.
