President Donald Trump has spoken to governors and reiterated his criticism to congestion charges in New York. Kathy Hochul (D-NY ) twice about it last week.
Hochul is trying to persuade Trump to maintain the system, which has led to a million fewer vehicles entering Manhattan’s crowded areas since its launch on January 5.
The Metropolitan Transit Authority, a nonprofit organization that has various plans to use congestion pricing to enhance the town’s public transportation system, is funded by the toll. The MTA says the system has “undeniably good outcomes” achieved. Hochul wants to carry that out.
” America’s business relies on New York City, and New York City relies on public transport — that’s why Gov. According to a Hochul spokeswoman,” Hochul will always support funding the passenger road, subways, and buses that contribute to the greatest city in the world’s economic development.”
But critics of the system, including Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) and New York Republicans, say the toll hurts daily riders. Last year, Murphy wrote a letter to Trump urging him to end the programme as he had promised.
Working- and middle-class New Jersey travellers and residents who require or want to visit Lower Manhattan now have to pay a sizable payment in addition to the gate and pipe tolls they presently owe a crisis. New Jersey communities are not being totally compensated for the more traffic and associated pollution that will be rerouted to them as a result of congestion pricing, Murphy wrote.  ,
Reps. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY ) and Mike Lawler (R-NY ) have met with Trump about ending the program. Malliotakis, a Staten Island Republican, said Trump has “tasked the Department of Transportation to come up with alternatives he has to end the program”.
Lawler claimed that Trump needed to “need to be killed” because he stated in their conference next week.

Trump has assured Hochul that he won’t cancel the program without first talking with her, according to CBS News.
He did talk with her about the issue once more next week.
