ANALYSIS: Kendi’s centre has substantially scaled up following massing spending with small results. At Howard University, he will then produce something comparable.
The Center for Antiracist Research will be shut down by Boston University on June 30 as a result of the “antiracism” champion moving to Howard University.
Kendi will launch a similar facility at the Washington, D. C. previously black school, focused on “advancing analysis of importance to the world American Diaspora, including inquiry into race, technology, racism, climate change, and disparities”.
The” Institute for Advanced Study” will be” ]b ] uilt on the highest standards of intellectual inquiry”, according to a news release from Howard.
But, Kendi’s Boston U. middle failed to deliver on some promises. The College Fix contacted the school and middle for comment on performance during that period, and they ignored at least twenty. The Fix‘s evaluation for 2024 revealed that the center had been mostly quiet for the past year. The scaled up version, following wasting by Kendi, produced small. Kendi was found not guilty of any crime after the college conducted an investigation into the facility.
The center started off with strong fundraising, including$ 10 million from former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. It also had the advantage of being started in summertime 2020, as Black Lives Matter grew in fame and corporations and governments focused on “antiracism” and “diversity, capital, and participation” rules. Kendi himself did very well during that time, hauling in$ 35, 000 for 60-minute statements. According to an analysis in 2021, Kendi had already made close to$ 300,000 from speaking engagements, which is a figure that has surpassed the$ 500,000 mark.
After the hiring of about half the team, which adversely affected racial minorities and therefore upheld the law’s “antiracism,” Kendi switched to focusing on scholarships.
However, The Fix spoke with a “research advertising,” who was contacted for clarification on the duties that the position entails and did not even know she had been accepted.
Boston U. heralded some of Kendi’s labor, including the “COVID Racial Data Tracker”. However, Kendi and his team did little on that project; instead, a crew of The Atlantic volunteers completed the work, and the publication ended innovative data collection in March 2021.
His middle existed at Boston U. for five centuries, after he left a similar job at American University. The centre almost nothinged during his final two years, which accounts for 40 % of his time there, while Kendi, at least for his first three years, wrote no scientific papers.
As The Fix reported in Sep. 2024:
The most recent upgrade from the Racial Data Lab was from August 2023, according to .
Everything is listed on a website titled” What We’re Working On” from this year.
Since 2022, no plan accounts or convenings have been published, and no amicus brief have been submitted by the middle since 2023. This time, the Model Legislation Project has also not been updated.
While the monthly Antiracist Book Festival did not take place in 2023 or 2024, the Antiracist Legal Education Project advertises an occasion as “upcoming” from September 2023. A Vertex Symposium, which is also described as an annual occurrence, has not occurred since 2022.
Even though some of his detractors were members of racial minorities, quite as Saida Grundy, Kendi was quick to accuse them of prejudice when they were questioned about his leadership.
He told The Daily Free Press,” I have been disappointed in journalists who write about Black leaders without providing supporting information.” Racist notions of a dishonest Black leader operating a disorganized or toxic organization are so pervasive that reporters don’t need to look for proof.
