A grand jury late indicted an illegal immigrant over the charge that the suspect had killed and set her brain on fire.
According to The Spirit of Jefferson, 46-year-old David Antonio Calderon, an illegitimate refugee from El Salvador, was indicted for allegedly murdering 32-year-old Samantha Dailey in May of 2024. The outlet reported that Dailey’s body was found on a burning armchair in Berkley County, West Virginia, on May 6.
According to The Spirit of Jefferson, legislation enforcement investigators concluded that Dailey was killed first in Jefferson County before her body was discovered in a niche in Berkley County.
An unidentified national confirmed to Newsweek that Dailey had been monitored with GPS tracking at the time of her death because she was being held in a cell for driving with a suspended certificate. According to the report, Dailey allegedly told her situation officer that she planned to clear the Ranson, West Virginia, Los Amigos Car Lot the day after her death. Additionally, the report noted that officers claimed Calderon had been imprisoned in Ranson.
According to Newsweek, law enforcement were later dispatched to Martinsburg, West Virginia, where they discovered a” severely burned” couch and a” severely burned” body. The system was heavily burned, but it was still able to be identified as a woman, according to a legal complaint obtained by the store. After using her GPS tracking information, law enforcement officials eventually determined that the sufferer was Dailey.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to The Post Millennial that Calderon had numerous previous arrests and convictions in El Salvador. The outlet noted that the views include murder, sexual assault, aggravated assault, narcotics-related offences, and driving under the influence.
According to Newsweek, Calderon entered the country without authorization maybe after his release in 2021 from an El Salvador jail. Calderon attempted to obtain prison in Canada, but was turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents, who brought the illegal immigrant into the country with a notice to appear before an immigration prosecutor.
On May 8, 2024, two weeks after Dailey’s death, Calderon was actually scheduled to appear before an immigration judge, according to Newsweek.
According to The Panhandle News Network, Jefferson County Prosecutor Matt Harvey also disclosed to The Post that Calderon was found guilty on January 17 of unlawful wounded and destructive assault for two separate events that occurred in April of that year.
