The Trump Defense Department formally revoked a Biden-era legislation that allowed the use of taxpayer funds to pay agency workers ‘ travel costs related to abortion in a significant victory for America’s unborn.
The Biden administration’s effective policy of properly using public money to reimburse service people who traveled to state with pro-abortion legislation to discontinue their pregnancy is no longer in effect, according to a letter released on Wednesday. The executive order, which confirmed the Hyde Amendment and” related laws that prevent Federal funding of democratic pregnancy,” was followed by President Trump’s administrative order, which became effective on Tuesday.
The 2023 policy became a key battleground in Congress and the defense government. To rally the Biden administration’s order, Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., initiated a months-long keep on President Biden’s Pentagon offers, using his place on the Senate Armed Services Committee to push the body to vote on each election one at a time rather than “en bulk”.
Democrats and Biden’s military officials baselessly claimed his keeps threatened military readiness and national security, but Alabama’s senior senator endured unscrupulous attacks from them. In December 2023, Tuberville was almost forced to end his opposition when several of his GOP associates threatened to support Senate Democrats by bending Senate rules to avoid the restrictions. In a Friday speech, Tuberville described the Biden-era scheme as “illegal and immoral”. He noted that he” took a lot of heat when ]he ] stood alone for nearly a year in holding senior Pentagon promotions”, but added that,” as of today, it was all worth it”.
The Biden administration” treated citizens like their own personal Piggy banks that they could use to fund their woke plan.” President Trump and Secretary Hegseth affirmed today what I’ve been fighting for since I’ve arrived in Washington:” None of the taxpayer dollars should go towards abortions,” said Tuberville. ” Under President Trump and Secretary Hegseth’s leadership, the Pentagon will once again be focused on lethality, not pushing a political agenda”.
