And then California Democrats realized that appropriating$ 50, 000, 000 to use as lawsuit money to “resist Trump” looked bad in a state where the state will likely need to spend$ 100,000,000 to rebuild L.A. Welcome to the West Coast, Messed Coast™, where every year we go through a handful of sociopathic antics of the left whose main goal is to destroy common feeling in Washington, Oregon, and California. Come getting started!  ,

Opposition 2.0
If you’re novel these — and if you are, welcome! — you probably know that Gov. Gavin Newsom, Attorney General Rob Bonta, and his father, Xavier Becerra, spent thousands of tax money to take more than 140 complaints against the first Trump Administration in Resistance 1.0.  ,
Democrats in the supermajority-led legislature were putting together a$ 50, 000, 000 legal kitty to finance any additional creative law they could come up with for Trump 2.0. Newsom called it” Trump-Proofing” California, hoping that any legitimate win against Hitler would help accelerate his 2028 national election.
The assembly had to accept the legitimate fund before presenting it to Newsom’s desk before the state senate passed it. And next… nothing.  ,
Californians and politicians on both sides of the aisle overwhelmingly opposed a ballot on Newsom’s$ 50 million mud account, which the Assembly rejected in order to reimburse Trump.
California is facing a significant budget deficit for the foreseeable future while Los Angeles is suffering from a devastating flames. The…

Our partner, Ed Morrissey, over at HotAir, characterizes the wait.
Quelle wonder! The biggest impact is that it took these geniuses twenty whole days to know that Trump would be the one man who would veto the terms of national help. They does desperately need to do so to get voters motivated enough to stop them from punishing the party that toppled California into the ground. Not to mention, it might have come to mind how self-centered Sacramento Democrats looked as they went out of their way to spend$ 50 million on their obsession with Orange Man Bad while tens of thousands of Californians watched their homes catch fire.  ,

In next week’s West Coast, Messed Coast ™ statement, West Coast, Messed Coast™: Any L. A. I demanded that a special master be in charge of all state funds to rebuild L.A. and that such money become accompanies a thief with a green eye. Weight Oregon-style
Oregon has begun providing training for state workers on how to violate U.S. legislation, executive orders issued by Donald Trump, and the Laken Riley Act.  ,
The state employees are not permitted to use resources in the monastery express training, which was released this month, and are only instructed to report requests to a Sanctuary Promise Hotline.
Dwayne Yunker, a Republican member for Grants Pass, demanded that the position stop it.  ,
The State of Oregon is constantly advising state employees to hinder immigration enforcement and violate federal law. This is not only reckless—it is outlawed. I’ve written to the DAS pleading for them to quickly halt this education and work with the DOJ to make sure Oregon cooperates entirely with national immigration authorities. Oregon has prioritize the protection of its citizens.

We’re positive that the unfortunately-named Tina Kotek, the government, may get right on it — after the body matter gets high enough.
Supermajority authoritarians
A 132-year-old guideline that was changed by the Washington State legislature supermajority Democrats has been changed to reduce debate so that GOP members are not permitted to take part in floor debates. Read that afterwards.
Democratic House Majority Leader Joe Fitzgibbon stated in response to the change to the rule to solitude Republicans:” It is very important that we have strong debates on this ground.”
We guess they’ll claim they’re doing it to protect democracy or something.  ,
Newsom-proof California
Rep. Kevin Kiley says his work to Newsom-proof California are going also. Although we’re not entirely sure what it all means, Kiley has proposed a bill to drag the California Coastal Commission’s smile, which is a great stop.  ,
Our movement to Newsom-proof California has incredible momentum. Many people who told me they no longer believed in our state have a new sense of optimism. It’s an exciting time to be a Californian and an American. pic. twitter.com/hTILGdp3j7— Kevin Kiley ( @KevinKileyCA ) January 28, 2025

Ode to mental illness
Michael Perlman, a retired statistician from the University of Washington, made the decision to post the lyrics to his song” Trump resistance” on my alma mater’s listserv. Consider this for a moment. He outed his mental fragility because he was so confident that he would receive rewards from fellow faculty members.  ,

Some of the lyrics were provided by Jason Rantz:
My Country,’ tis of Thee,
Land of lost Liberty,
Of Thee I sing.
Virtue and Honor died,
Gone is the Pilgrims ‘ Pride,
Integrity is cast aside,
Let Resistance ring.
It gets worse. On any given day, Rantz reports, the listserv is full of “virulently anti-Trump, anti-Israel, and anti-conservative propaganda and smears. It’s a near-daily, disturbing look at the radical and often unhinged beliefs of UW faculty”.
Speaking of crazy
As both VodkaPundit and I pointed out this week, L. A. In her bid to wrest control over the charred neighborhood known as Pacific Palisades, mayor Karen Bass has gone “full commie.” By all means, read both, but the shorthand is that she’s hired a consultant to represent both the city and the owners. She’s done this without consulting any of the neighbors.  ,
Well spotted if this appears to be a way for her and her representative to wedge people’s property rights.  ,
Stranger strangeness
A sex advice column in The Stranger is a profane and disgusting Seattle rag that is both offensive and profane.  ,
We’re now learning that the paper’s reporters have been suspended as a result of their inability to reveal that a winning Seattle city council member was having an affair with the reporter.

Hi Mrs Taft.  ,
I enjoy your articles! Your biting sarcasm is so delicious!  ,
I just read your piece on” Messed Coast”. More than one hundred years old is the justification for the claim that water should flow out into the ocean to protect bait fish. While we drain lakes every spring ( as opposed to the fire season ), the fish are blatant crockery! The small Smelt fish in the delta have a one-year lifespan. Because they wouldn’t have survived on their own, California keeps them in the water. It’s a self-made problem.  ,
Meanwhile, farmers are denied water, fires rage without resources and everyone is forced to ration water. Simply put, the continuous process is mind-boggling to explain. I wanted to share my opinion on the subject. When I read your article, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Because it is truly Messed Coast out here!  ,
Respectfully, Richard G.  ,
They haven’t ruined everything yet
