The channel claimed on Friday that Brendan Carr, Trump’s appointment as FCC chairman, compelled it to change over the interview’s transcripts and video feeds for a separate commission investigation. 60 Minutes has resisted releasing records for this and all of its interviews, to prevent second-guessing of its processing method.
The case, especially a possible arrangement, is being carefully watched by journalists from CBS and those who support press freedom, whose lawyers called Trump’s lawsuit” completely without merit” and promised to actively fight it after it was filed.
The Harris meeting at first gained media attention because CBS News broadcast clips of Harris responding to reporter Bill Whitaker’s questions in totally different ways on Face the Nation on October 6 and 60 Minutes the following night. Harris ‘ lengthy response to Whitaker’s problem was the source of each picture, according to the network, but it was edited to suit the time constraints of both broadcasts.
Trump claimed in his lawsuit that it was “partisan and unconstitutional acts of voter interference” and that it was dishonest editing intended to benefit Harris.
Trump, who refused to give a demand to be interviewed by 60 Minutes during the battle, has continued to fight despite winning the election less than a week after the lawsuit was filed.
