Questions arose following former representative Tulsi Gabbard’s confirmation hearing last Thursday regarding whether she could get enough support from the nine Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee to bring her nomination for director of national intelligence ( DNI ) to a full Senate vote. The movement against her has been swift and, at times, absurd, with some on the remaining accusing her of being Putin’s puppet, Modi’s puppet, Assad’s puppet, and maybe even Geppetto’s stooge at different points.  ,

You almost have to grin at some of the crazy accusations made against her, even though some of the accusations have undoubtedly caused a lot of Republican lawmakers to be explicitly wary of supporting her. Senator Josh Hawley boldly expressed his concerns about Gabbard’s chances of being confirmed, implying that her election might be in jeopardy, especially given the committee’s slim majority held by Republicans.
However, she got a huge boost Monday night when Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine ) announced her full support for Gabbard.
” After broad consideration of her election, I will help Tulsi Gabbard to be the Director of National Intelligence. I am aware of the crucial role that the DNI plays in the intelligence community as one of the main creators of the 2004 Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act,”,” Collins said in a speech. But, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has grown much larger than it should, and Ms. Gabbard and I have shared our desire to restore the organization to its original size. Ms. Gabbard addressed my issues regarding her views on Edward Snowden in response to my questions during our conversation in my business, at the empty reading, as well as through her description at the Senate Intelligence Committee’s finished reading. Working with Ms. Gabbard to advance our nation’s stability is something I look forward to doing.

Collins has a lot of help that should not be taken lightly. She recently opposed Pete Hegseth’s election to guide the Department of Defense, and honestly, if I were a gambling man, I’d had bet money that she would have opposed Gabbard.
With Collins in place, the focus now shifts to potentially crucial swing vote from other GOP legislators. It is possible that Collins ‘ aid will entice GOP lawmakers to help Gabbard. I think thus.
Senator Todd Young has expressed disappointment with some of Gabbard’s messages regarding Edward Snowden. He has yet to officially share how he will vote despite having expressed his dissatisfaction with her confirmation hearing. His decision was greatly influence the direction of Gabbard’s election, as the agency’s split—9 Republicans to 8 Democrats—means every vote counts.
Ironically, Sen. Jerry Moran, who first had doubts about Gabbard, hinted that he might help her. However, Senator John Cornyn has confirmed that he will cast his vote in favor of Gabbard, more solidifying a way forward for her nomination.

As Gabbard’s assurance voting methods, all eye will be on the Senate Intelligence Committee. Gabbard has a good chance of becoming the next director of national intelligence if she can secure the help of jump legislators like Young and Moran while retaining aid from Collins and Cornyn.  ,
