Elon Musk , said his” Expand group” of government performance officials is shutting down payment to provincial companies, suggesting that the world’s richest man does have access to sensitive methods used at the , U. S. Treasury Department.
” The corruption and waste is being rooted out in real-time”, Musk posted on X on Sunday, saying officers reporting to his so-called , Department of Government Efficiency , are “rapidly shutting down” payment to a Lutheran charity.
The Treasury Department , did not immediately respond to concerns about the amount of Musk’s exposure. President , Donald Trump , has put the , Tesla , CEO — and largest donation to his election work — in charge of an effort to modernize national data systems.
Musk’s trip comments follow next year’s exit of , David Lebryk, the Treasury Department’s most top job official, who had been in command of payment methods at the , Bureau of the Fiscal Service.
Those techniques are tightly controlled, and may have sensitive data on taxpayers, companies and beneficiaries.  , Treasury , leaders have long maintained that its function is to serve as the federal government’s cash — and that the choice about whether to approve or deny pay belongs to personal companies based on cash appropriated by , Congress.
” The @DOGE group discovered, among other things, that transaction authorization officials at , Treasury , were instructed always to review payments, even to known fraudulent or criminal groups. They have essentially never been denied a payment throughout their entire career. Not even once”, Musk wrote on X, the social platform he owns.
Musk said DOGE was shutting down payments by the , U. S. Department of Health and Human Services , to , Lutheran Family Services, a faith-based charity that has been providing social services to refugees.
