After a 2019 diversity training, at least 60 staff were given keep notices.
The Education Department placed some federal employees on left Friday for their relationship with “diversity, capital, and addition” following Trump’s professional order banning La programs.
According to Politico, the people were given left notices citing President Donald Trump’s professional order outlawing DEI in federal authorities and “further assistance from the Office of Personnel Management.”
However, the people ‘ union, American Federation of Government People Regional 252, said everyone who attended a volunteer teaching called the” Diversity Change Agent Program” may get a see.
The two-day event was held in March 2019 and was promoted by then-Secretary Betsy DeVos during Trump’s first leadership, The Hill reported.
Sheria Smith, leader of the federation, told USA Today that at least 60 people had received left finds, and the amount is expected to increase.
” We suspect this was an act of intimidation”, Smith said. However, I am aware of several people who won’t go up and leave. The people I’ve spoken to are steadfast in their commitment to serving the British public.
She also said the coalition is preparing to file “potential concerns”, USA Today reported.
Employees placed on left include” a public affairs professional, civil rights attorneys, program director analysts, product regulators and employees working to ensure schools provide specific needs children with customised training programs”, NBC News reported.
Brittany Holder, a spokesperson for the union, said only two of the employees placed on leave held DEI-specific roles. The rest had simply attended the training.
As a result, some of the employees are pushing back.
Civil Rights Attorney Subodh Chandra, who is representing one of the employees on paid leave, said his client was placed on the employment, engagement, and diversity and inclusion council established during Trump’s first term.
” My client, a veteran, did nothing to violate any executive order. Nor did any of his similarly situated colleagues. He doesn’t even run a’ DEIA ‘ project”, Chandra said.
The attorney claimed that from the beginning, Trump’s own political appointees had appointed him to an inactive committee.
However, a spokesperson for the Education Department claimed that the decision was made as part of “evaluation staffing in line with the commitment to prioritize meaningful learning over divisive ideology in schools and placing student outcomes above special interests.”
According to spokesperson Madi Biedermann,” President Trump was elected to bring about unprecedented reform to the federal civil service to ensure it is merit-based and effective at serving the American people.”
Last month, Trump’s Education Department dismantled its DEI measures and removed its related staff following the president’s executive order. According to The College Fix, the department also canceled$ 2.6 million in DEI contracts and removed over 200 related web pages from its website.
