Japan: Record-breaking rain fell on Japan ‘ s north main island of Hokkaido, disrupting customers, causing airport shutdown and delaying sales on Tuesday.
The Hokkaido provincial state reported record-breaking snowfall in Obihiro and Kushiro, two of the island’s eastern regions, where drivers had sounded the need for assistance after their cars had sat in the snow.
Although the city did not experience significant disruptions, the city’s Sapporo in southeastern Hokkaido experienced significant snow and visitors disruptions only as a well-known snow festival began.
Tv footage showed people shoveling snow and people pushing caught vehicles. So far, no injury or major deterioration have been reported.
In Obihiro, record-breaking snowfall of 129 centimeters ( 4 feet ) was detected earlier Tuesday.
Two strong low pressure techniques are moving on both sides of the Asian island, according to the Japan weather bureau, sending cool air into the area.
The agency predicted up to 100 centimeters ( 3.2 feet ) of snowfall in northwestern Japan and 50 centimeters ( 1.6 feet ) more snowfall in Hokkaido over the next 24 hours through Wednesday evening.
According to the province, major thoroughfares and major thoroughfares were closed, and coach services were suspended in the affected areas. Hundreds of flights in and out of Hokkaido were canceled, affecting thousands of people, while the snowfall at the Obihiro and Kushiro flights closed flights.
