Decision prompts anger, rally
New York University’s health facility has canceled “gender-affirming maintenance” treatments for adolescents following President Donald Trump’s professional order to stop for solutions.
According to Washington Square News, two 12-year-old children were informed that their sessions were canceled but that another child had been scheduled to get puberty blockers. According to the school newspaper, doctors informed the patients and their families that they were unable to continue as of” the new management” and that they were “awaiting more guidance.”
One doctor told a patient’s family that the clinic may no longer give “gender-affirming care”.
Following the revocation of the menstruation blocker appointments, trans activists staged a protest outside the hospital. Thousands assembled at St. Vartan Park to exhibit against NYU Langone Health, MSN reported.  ,
In a post on X, New York State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal further debunks the cancellations, saying he is “extremely disturbed by studies that NYU Langone has paused providing gender affirming care to fresh individuals under the age of 19”.
” I hope that all New York hospitals and healthcare companies will promote the health and well-being of people,” he said,” though I understand NYU Langone is responding to the absurd Executive Order from the Trump Administration.”
But, New York Attorney General Letitia James instructed hospitals to continue providing “gender-affirming treatment” on Monday, the Associated Press reported.
In a letter to the institutions, she wrote,” We write further inform you of your duty to comply with New York State rules.”
This” care” includes therapy, surgical interventions, counseling, and other treatments for trans-identifying individuals looking to” change” genders. This may involve severing good reproductive organs and injecting cross-sex hormone into the body for some people.
President Donald Trump signed the” Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation” executive order last month, directing federal agencies to stop funding “gender-affirming care” such as surgeries or puberty blockers, The College Fix reported.
The purchase criticizes “maiming and sterilizing a growing number of young children under the blatant and false pretense that adults may transform a child’s sex through a series of catastrophic health interventions.”
In 2023, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded NYU more than$ 628 million in offers. The medical center received over$ 220 million in grants and accomplishments that year,$ 2.7 million of which came from the federal government, Washington Square News reported.
New York University is not the only institution to cancel “gender-affirming care” processes in the midst of Trump’s executive purchase.
According to a declaration from the hospital, Virginia Commonwealth University Health and Children’s Clinics of Richmond even stopped for treatments for people under the age of 19.
Also, Children’s National hospital in Washington D. C. is “pausing all menstruation blockers and hormone therapy treatments for transgender children people, per the instructions in the executive order issued by the White House this week”, according to a speech.
