As tensions between the two financial powers grew after the latter added new tariffs on Chinese products, China on Tuesday announced an anti-monopoly research into US tech giant Google.
Google is” suspected of violating the Anti-Monopoly Law of the People’s Republic of China,” according to China’s State Administration for Market Regulation ( SAMR), and it confirmed that a formal investigation has been launched.
However, more information about the claims remain invisible.
The US search engine has been subject to restrictions in China for years despite its worldwide supremacy, where its main search engine and many of its services are still blocked by the nation’s tight online regulations, frequently referred to as the” Great Firewall.”
In 2011, the business relocated to Hong Kong and discontinued activities of its Chinese-language research website.
By 2014, China had entirely cut off access to Google’s internet service, Google.
Beijing also made it known that it had added US clothing company PVH Corp, the owner of biotech companies Illumina and Tommy Hilfiger, to its roster of “unreliable companies.”
This move was upheld by the business department, stating that both firms had “violated standard business transaction principles” and engaged in “discriminatory measures” against Chinese companies, information agency AFP reported.
It claimed that the move do,” safeguard national independence, safety and development interests, in accordance with appropriate laws”.
China opened an exploration into PVH last September over its alleged protest of cloth from Xinjiang, a region where Beijing has been accused of commiting numerous human rights violations.
The most recent developments come in response to the United States ‘ decision on Saturday to impose an additional 10 % tariff on Chinese goods, which has heightened trade tensions even further.
