While President Donald Trump‘s plan focused on fixing problems at home, such as the market and immigration, his first few months prioritized foreign policy initiatives.
Trump spoke about foreign and domestic plan during the campaign trail, but his main points were on resolving issues he claimed the Biden administration caused. Since being inaugurated, he has signed professional commands rolling up diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and taken moves at cutting up the size of the national workforce. However, the procedures that predominated his second weeks were more in line with his commitments to “prevent World War Three” and “end the global panic and restore harmony through strength.”
In his first week as president, he has concentrated on the areas listed below.
Gaza
Trump made headlines on Tuesday by calling on residents of the property to relocate to surrounding Arab nations as the region is redeveloped and “level it out” and “level it out” and repair Gaza.
The United States will retake control of the Gaza Strip and do a lot of work with it, also. We’ll individual it, Trump said during a press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel.
He envisioned a place where” the world’s people” could live, saying it could become the” Riviera of the Middle East”. He alluded to going so far as to give soldiers, saying” We’ll do what is necessary”, when asked if he’d build forces.
Following the destruction caused by Israel’s battle against Hamas, the senator has repeatedly stated that Gaza is now a “demolition page.” He advises that Palestinians relocate to Egypt or Jordan rather than to dust.
In the press event Tuesday, Trump said he views U. S. “long-term rights” as essential to security and peace in the Middle East.
Despite the Middle East’s protests and a stalemate in the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the president’s plan was implemented.
Canada and Mexico
If they did not stop the flow of fentanyl and illegal immigrants into the United States, one of Trump’s first big moves was to warn Canada and Mexico of blanket 25 % tariffs on all imports from their respective nations if they were declared the winner of the election last November.
Trump had been mocking the taxes for weeks, but he announced on Saturday that he would be imposing them on Tuesday until the nations had taken enough action to stop the flow of fentanyl and the illegal immigration of people.
With less than a day before they were scheduled to start in consequence, both Mexico and Canada reached agreements with Trump to put a quarter on hold before the levies went into effect. Trump and the officials of both nations said, among other issues, discussions may remain regarding how to stop the flow of fentanyl across the borders.
Notably, the majority of the deal reached on Monday that sparked Trump’s anger toward Canada had been made public over the summer, and illegal border crossings dropped by 89 % between June and December 2024.
Greenland
The United States acquiring Greenland is one idea from Trump’s first name that has come back in at the start of his next term. The place, under the authority of Denmark, has important exposure to the Arctic Circle, along with healthy resources, which have made it an appealing piece of land for Trump.
Leaders in the United States and Europe have emphasized that the president appears to be critical about purchasing the country, despite some who have dismissed Trump’s desire to buy the region as a joke.
A contact between Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Trump did not go well according to European officials last month, with one standard saying the United States ‘ intention was “very evident” in that they wanted Greenland. The unidentified national added that” the Danes are now in issue mode.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show last week that Trump’s desire for Greenland is” not a pun” and that it “is in our national interest, and it needs to be solved”.
Panama
Trump also made it abundantly clear that he was concerned about Panama Canal safety. The United States constructed the river in 1914 and operated it until a 1977 agreement, which in 1999 fully vested control over the Panamanians.
The president has spoken out about regaining control of the canal, criticizing the fees Panamanians demand for passing and concerns about Chinese concerns over the canal’s operation.
During Trump’s initial expression, Panama signed a joint statement with China, reinforcing that they would not make established relationships to Taiwan. Since then, the relationship between the two has grown. The Panamanians have disputed the claim that China is in charge of the river, though.
” The Canal has no power, direct or indirect, either from China, nor from the European Community, nor from the United States or any other strength”, President José Raúl , Mulino said in his speech.
Rubio met with representatives in Panama last week as part of his first overseas trip as secretary of state. After the trip, Mulino said the country would take out of the China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The Secretary of State celebrated the government’s decision as a “great move forward for U. S. Panama ties”.

Trump promised a quick resolution to the conflict, but much progress has been made as a result of discussions with other foreign policy issues in the first few months of his second term.
