Donald Trump, the president of the US, reiterated on Tuesday that Linda McMahon’s purpose is to completely abolish the department of education.
” I told Linda—” Linda, I hope you do a great job and set yourself out of a career,'” Trump said to writers on Tuesday”. I want her to throw herself out of a job]in the] training office.”
Trump, 78, was asked about his decision to select McMahon, 76, despite his push to remove the office. McMahon, who formerly served as the little company administration’s superintendent during Trump’s second term, has officially backed the strategy.
Although there has been speculation that Trump might executive order to destroy the department, legal experts claim that he would need congressional support before doing so.
” I think I’d function with Congress,” Trump said”. Because the teachers union is the only one who opposes it, we’d had to work with them.
Trump added,” We have to tell the teachers union that we are rated last in the world in education among the top 40 .” It was unclear at first what standing structure he was referring to.
Under President Jimmy Carter’s leadership, the department of education was founded in 1979. Calls to halt it have been a topic of liberal policy debates for decades. Additionally, former President Ronald Reagan backed its treatment.
The division now has some 4, 400 people and a$ 79 billion monthly budget.
According to USASpending. The Department of Education, which handles student money, received about$ 281.66 billion in administrative resources next fiscal year, with approximately$ 80 billion going to the Office of Federal Student Aid.
Trump has argued that individual state education choices should be left to the person.
Trump said,” I believe that if you moved our colleges into some of these well-run claims, they would be as great as Denmark, Norway, and Sweden,”. But you’d possess the individuals, the exact laggards that are individuals with everything else, including crime.”
Since returning to business, Trump has pursued efforts to reduce the size of the federal government.
