A death defendant was attacked by three people in a typical court in New Mexico, causing a vicious fight with flying fists, kicks, and even a seat.
Video footage captured instant a murder suspect was attacked during a judge reading by his victim’s brother and father, as NBC media reported.
Alexander Ortiz, 21, was arrested last year for the deadly shooting of his ex-girlfriend, Alianna Farfan. He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree death costs.
A person leaped over the court challenge and charged at Ortiz during a plea hearing at the Albuquerque courthouse on January 31. Moments later, another gentleman followed, forcing Ortiz to retreat as panic unfolded.
They are currently facing criminal assault and battery on public officials. Before law enforcement regained control, a woman who was also detained was seen striking both the accused and an agent with a seat before law enforcement, according to Albuquerque TV station KRQE on Thursday.
The officer drew a surprise weapons and shielded the accused before the fight ended.
Katina Watson, a New Mexico judge standard, said that such outbursts are not unusual, praising the policeman’s rapid response but offering no notice of new safety measures.
