Kamala Harris, the then-Democrat presidential candidate, glared stumped when asked how she would pay for her economical policies in a portion of the untranslated CBS News interview that ended with no editing.
Whitaker noted in the interview that was made available that the Nonpartisan Committee for Responsible Federal Budget predicted that Harris ‘ economic plan “would add$ 3 trillion to the federal deficit over the next ten years.”
” How are you going to spend for that”? he asked.
Finally, Harris responded by suggesting that” the richest among us, who can afford it” does “pay their fair share in income”, in order to compensate for her plans.
Everyone needs to pay their fair share, she continued, before using teachers and firefighters to argue that stealing funds from those who earn more frequently is in my opinion.
A network asked a host’s off-screen cameraman to pose a problem so the staff could get an over-the-shoulder shot at the end of the entire interview.
” We were talking about how you were gonna pay for it, and I really do think it — your plans are natural, make reasonable sense”, Whitaker said, following up on an earlier question. ” The means Washington works is not natural. So how are you going to persuade a divided Congress that what you say and your intentions are something they may all support and give to the British people when they have shown no interest at this point?”
” Is that what you needed”? Harris asked, seemingly referencing the over-the-shoulder picture. Before requesting” 30 seconds of motionless space for room time,” the crew member stated that it was true.
In a longer edition of the picture, a staff member said,” Cams are off.” Harris was immediately prompted to ask for an exact response to his problem.
” How will you”? Whitaker pressed, laughing.
” It’s gonna get fees, it’s gonna be absolutely, the economics. I mean it, from each, the spectrum”, Harris said, stumbling through her reply before Whitaker cut her down.
” But I hear what you’re saying about the academics, this is true. But Congress is not the economics”, Whitaker responded before the picture ended.
Harris had recently suggested raising taxes, but her off-screen response revealed her crumbling under pressure. She had no real reason for how something she promised may be accomplished other than through “taxes.” Although it’s not clear what transpired after the shooting ended, Harris ‘ response was absolutely only evidence that she had no real way to find her mission through.
