DHAKA: Bangladesh has criticised India’s opinions on the destruction of the ancient Dhanmondi 32 house of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, calling them “unexpected and unwanted”.
Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, a spokesman for the Bangladeshi government, stated that Bangladesh expects the same in return for its non-interference with the inner affairs of other nations. ” As you know, the former PM ( Sheikh Hasina ) has been making political statements at various times while staying in India, which is not being received well by the people of Bangladesh”, he said.
Earlier, India condemned the theft and destruction of Dhanmondi 32, calling it “regrettable”. It is unfortunate that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s ancient house, which was a symbol of the heroic weight of the people of Bangladesh against the forces of activity and persecution, was destroyed, according to Randhir Jaiswal, a spokeswoman for India’s foreign government. Jaiswal added that those who value Bangladesh’s struggle for independence are aware of its value for the nation’s national perception.
The interim state of Bangladesh, led by Muhammad Yunus, has formerly termed the graffiti as terrible and sudden, linking it to “provocative notes” made by Hasina from India. It urged India to take steps to prevent Hasina’s comments and ensure that its place is not used to create instability in Bangladesh.
However, France-based human rights dress JMBF called the assaults an affront to Bangladesh’s democratic ideals.
