Kristi Noem, the secretary of state for immigration, has requested that the Treasury Department put its IRS agents on the ground to aid in the Trump administration’s efforts to carry out more persecution.
Noem said in a blog on X that” I have requested that Biden’s 87, 000 IRS agents help citizens save money by assisting ICE to round up legal illegal aliens for deportation.”
Noem wrote that her office needs more tools to locate illegal immigrants and look into smuggling network in a text to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
According to Noem’s letter,” DHS understands that the Department of the Treasury has qualified law enforcement personnel available to assist with immigration enforcement, particularly given recent increases in the Internal Revenue Service’s work pressure and resources.”
Under Trump, illegal immigration into the United States has decreased, with focus now being diverted to deporting those who formerly were able to enter the country. Trump has promised to carry out his largest repatriation operation in history, but U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been conducting raids all over the country.
The Trump presidency has enlisted the IRS as one of its recent additions to its list of non-immigration-focused organizations.
In a January note from acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman , obtained by , the , Wall Street Journal, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Bombs, and the U. S. Marshals Service were among the authorities granted imprisonment power. According to those with knowledge of the situation, Trump administration officials intended to hire Justice Department officials to carry out imprisonment programs.
The FBI currently has imprisonment power, though their use is uncommon, according to the letter from last month.
The DEA, ATF, the U.S. Marshals Service, and various organizations mentioned in the memo sometimes cross paths with the immigration debate, but not on a major scale.

In order to combat immigration, Congress is even attempting to change the IRS’s tools. The Securing Our Borders Act, which was unveiled on Friday, would divert all unobligated funds that Liberals gave to the IRS to improve border security. Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC ) office told the Washington Examiner that the total should amount to$ 22.4 billion.
” President]Joe ] Biden’s ill-advised decision to supercharge the IRS while we had a crisis on our southern border couldn’t  , have been more out-of-touch or unnecessary” , , Scott said in a statement to the , Washington Examiner. President Trump has signaled to the earth that he is serious about securing our borders and restoring peace and order in our communities in just two weeks of business. By redirecting these resources, we are taking steps to protect our federal sovereignty , and stay Americans healthy”.
