Gov. With a new bill announced on Monday, Ron DeSantis (R-FL ) and Republican leaders in the Florida legislature brokered their weeks-long stalemate over how to support the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
The bill that was passed by the politicians had a few important differences from DeSantis ‘ ideas, including granting state agriculture secretary, the governor, the authority to grant immigration. DeSantis threatened to veto the policy, as both flanks officially fought for their ideas.
After working with the government and the White House, Republican leaders from Florida’s Senate and state property have announced a fresh law and special session beginning on Tuesday.
We are building on the professional help from the White House to improve and implement strong guidelines and provide crucial resources to President Trump’s efforts to combat illegal emigration efficiently and effectively, according to the joint letter from both leaders.
” We are glad that the legislature has engaged in civil and respectful discussions and debates over these issues over the past few weeks. These ideas and budget, in conjunction with the Governor, maintain that Florida continues to lead by instance with the most severe crackdown on illegal immigration in the country, the letter added.
A State Board of Immigration Enforcement will become established in place of the director of agriculture, which is the most significant change in the policy. The table will be made up of the government, state crops director, state attorney general, and express chief financial officer, and choices by the system must be unanimous.
DeSantis thanked the leaders of both chambers of the Florida legislature for working with him on the revised legislation and praised the slate of bills.
” Florida always leads. Our Republican leaders have been working tirelessly to end the illegal immigration crisis for all, and we have a responsibility to do that, DeSantis said in a statement.

The special session to pass the new immigration laws is scheduled to convene on Tuesday and end on Friday.
