In an interview with Fox News on Monday, US President Donald Trump made the claim that Ukraine “may get Russian tomorrow.” The notes come back of a well-known conference between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vice President JD Vance, scheduled for this week on the heels of the Munich safety event.
Discussing the almost three-year-long discord between Ukraine and Russia, Trump remarked,” They may make a offer, they may not make a deal. They may be Russian tomorrow, or they may not be Soviet someday”.
Trump also emphasized the transactional nature of US aid to Ukraine, arguing that future help should be based on economic profits, particularly through Ukraine’s natural resources. ” We are going to have this money in it, and I say I want it up,” the statement read. And I told them that I want the equivalent, like$ 500 billion worth of rare earth”, Trump said. ” And they have largely agreed to do that, but at least we don’t think stupid”.
In an effort to speed a resolution to the conflict, Trump announced that he will quickly release his special minister, Keith Kellogg, to Ukraine. With his attend scheduled for February 20 just weeks before the three-year commemoration of Russia’s war on February 24, Kellygg will be asked to come up with a plan to put an end to the battle.
As part of any harmony deal with Russia, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy still demands stringent security guarantees from Washington. Kyiv worries that any agreement that doesn’t include specific military commitments, such as joining NATO or deploying security forces, may expose Ukraine to a potential for aggression from Moscow.
Zelenskyy’s director, Sergiy Nikiforov, confirmed the approaching meeting with Vice President Vance, while a cause from the mayor’s office indicated that Kellogg’s plan within Ukraine has yet to be disclosed.
In a recent video address, Zelenskyy reiterated Ukraine’s needed for “real serenity and powerful security promises”. He emphasised the broader impact of Ukraine’s protection, saying,” Surveillance of people, safety of our position, surveillance of economic relations and, of course, our source sustainability: not only for Ukraine, but for the entire free world. All of this is being decided right away.
