Here’s a pleasure much thought experiment: This believe it’s exactly four years ago. Since he has only been in business for a short while, President Biden’s approval rating is in the lower 60s ( which is actually higher than Trump’s right now ). However, ex-President Trump is at his low, leaving office with an weak acceptance rating of only 38 %.

In this thought experiment, let’s even believe that President Biden has decided to make a movie political statement on live Telly:” Dagnabbit, there’s been too much corruption under my father, who was a lying, dog-faced pony man ( as you know ). Plus, over the last 40 years, state spare has spiraled means out of control. If we don’t get a handle on it ASAP, inflation will explode post-COVID — folks will be paying$ 7 for a dozen eggs, if you can believe such a crazy thing”!
Get a really good conversation, right? But these comes the kick:
” For far too much, Republicans and Democrats turned a blind eye to state waste”, Biden says in our notion test. ” It was a nonpartisan boondoggle! Well, no more. I’m happy to let you know that I’ve struck a special deal with one of our country’s most creative corporate giants, Elon Musk! — to leave his business empire and sift through the financial information of governmental agencies. Large or small, left or right, liberal or conservative, Mr. Musk will analyze each and every one of them. This is the person’s cash, after all — and we deserve to know the truth about where the devil it’s going”!
The conventional media of 2021, very naturally, would enjoy madly, throwing flowers and candy at the foot of Biden and Musk. ” It’s beautiful”! they’d proclaim. ” And I’m so grateful that Mr. Musk is already so wealthy, because anyone else would be drawn to his own hands.” Can we believe the super-genius who invented the electric vehicles and revolutionized place go?

Yup, no question about it: Biden’s request would’ve been met with loud acclaim. ( And it would be Republicans yelling about the dangers of Big Tech. )
Of course, a lot may change in four decades.
Here we are in 2025, knee-deep in DOGE, and DOGE-gonit, the Democrats are howling and screaming like their spiritual calves are about to be skewered. And they most likely are: Do you know that Elon Musk and his DOGErs are exposing billion in scams?  ,
For most Americans, the sight of the world’s richest man — armed with a platoon of young wiz-kids with ( ahem ) colorful nicknames — is a fascinating spectacle to behold. They support Trump’s targets, which is reflected in his good opinion polls.
But they don’t completely trust Musk. For the extreme left, he’s actually the Devil’s activist, for everyone else, he’s a weirdo businessman who wants to become a multimillionaire. Musk is still respected as a generational genius ( the rambling protests of AOC notwithstanding ), but his cars and rockets are largely dependent on government subsidies, deals, and contracts, the inherent conflict is obvious.
Republicans are still on the border, also. There’s practically a Reaganesque” confidence but show” impulse. I mean, positive, we’re quite appreciative of his X acquisition, social support, and determination to free speech. It made a true, substantial change in the 2024 election. However, it’s difficult to shake the annoying impression that Musk’s Do ally was more of a transient convergence of interests than a long-term dedication to the traditional cause.

This leaves Musk in a vulnerable place because the left-wing PR system is doing EVERYTHING , it can to get him to the woodchipper. Without Trump’s executive protection and the loud, forceful support of the right ( including conservative media ), he’s vulnerable to condemnation.
Musk is Truly” to big to fail”. And his automaker, which accounts for the majority of his riches, is particularly vulnerable to the whims of the remaining. As we’ve noted in the past:
Estimates vary and markets fluctuate, but almost speaking, 75 percent of Elon Musk’s success is tied to Tesla. And Tesla, of course, is an electric vehicle company.
According to Gallup, 71 percent of Republicans would never consider owning an electric car.
Eighty-three percentage of Democrats had consider owning an electric car.
Which market is most important to Tesla’s core business model doesn’t require you to become a statistician, of course.
Musk is still pursuing his own business vision: Just yesterday, news broke of his bid to buy ChatGPT for a ( trifling )$ 97.4 billion. ( Sidenote: If Musk is willing to spend nearly$ 100B to acquire ChatGPT, I ‘m , not sure what that says about the future of xAI. ) He has his own goals and objectives,” confidence but show” is still good advice.
In the meantime, DOGE has a limited windows to manage its own tale: It needs to deliver the products. If it does, the Democrats are placed in the uncomfortable position of defending spare, bone, robbery, and fraud. ( Which, historically, doesn’t poll very well. )

The traditional movement needs to protect Expand from the slings and arrows of the violent left while this window is open, highlighting the clear: This is the people’s money. And we want it up!
Furthermore, it’s astonishingly hypocritical — even by democratic standards — to demand that” Democracy dies in shadow”! for four long years before demanding that it be kept surprise. Either shadows is poor, or it isn’t.
The rest is up to DOGE. Just deliver the goods, child.
