Oh, no — another class you’ve never heard of threatens a “nationwide financial outage” later this month, but this time with a bend. The People’s Union ( not a union, but it’s a progressive lobbying group ) is enraged by the end of DEI in the federal government and major corporations, and they have a plan to do something about it.

Instead, to not do something about it. The People’s Union ( not a union ) calls on all participants for 24 hours on February 28 to” not make any purchases. Do not buy virtual or in-store. No Amazon, No Walmart, No Best Buy. Nothing”!
” Do not use Credit or Debit Cards for nonessential spending”, during the financial shutdown, they urge. ” If they don’t listen ( they wont ) ]sic ] we make the next blackout longer ( We will )”.
According to Newsweek, the organization “is even asking naysayers to refrain from spending money on fast foods or fuel as well.” However, the firm’s site says,” If you must spent, ONLY support small, local companies”. So it’s less of a “nationwide financial blackout” and more of a” help your regional grocer”, and that always feels good.
I did a little drilling into The Women’s Union ( as opposed to a union ) to find out what kind of monetary authority it possesses. I’ll be honest and say that Jeff Bezos isn’t having any sleep over the country’s economic shutdown. As far as I can tell, The People’s Union is this guy named John ( he wants you to call him Jai ), and he has a nicely designed website.

The People’s Union is a progressive lobbying outfit because the majority of the site is dedicated to promoting the traditional causes like direct democracy and “free” health care, which is why I mentioned above that it isn’t a union ( it isn’t ) but is a progressive advocacy organization.  ,
Although neither Jai nor The People’s Union ( a union ) have official accounts on X, he did post several low-follower accounts earlier this week promoting his most recent TikTok video. His Bluesky bill has 293 enthusiasts, which doesn’t seem like a bit. But this is Bluesky we’re talking about, but even 293 followers is a lot. I don’t understand.
I’m not here to scorn Jai. I launched VodkaPundit 23 years ago as a one-man volunteer attire, and now I’m piece of Salem Media’s virtual online empire. Only another cog in an evil business system, I am. The People’s Union ( not a union ) should probably boycott me.
I promised you a twist, and so here it is: The Peoples Union ( not a union ) does not appear to take any federal funding. This night when I searched for The Women’s Union on DataRepublican, I came across no results. ” Jai” turned up zero results, too. Searching for” John” turned up a lot — and I mean a lot — of results, including$ 11, 899, 997.00 in Department of Energy grants to the University of Texas-Austin for” New materials and interfacial chemistry for next-generation electrical energy storage, pi- John B. Goodenough”, which hardly seems relevant.

( BTW, John B. Goodenough might seem like a fake name, but he’s a Nobel Prize-winning chemist who passed away in 2023.)
My point, though, is this: In a country filled with “non-profit” organizations pushing a political agenda at taxpayer expense, The People’s Union ( not a union ) doesn’t appear to feed at the public trough. That might be much more noteworthy than anything that occurs on February 28.  ,
