With the reports claiming that the rapper allegedly lied to an advertising firm to operate an racist campaign during the Super Bowl, which finally promoted offensive items on his website after airing, Kyne West and his t-shirt controversy took a fresh turn.
The advertisements, lasting 15 seconds and featuring West in a medical head, was originally presented as promoting dental work and directing viewers to Yeezy .com for regular items, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Following the advertisement’s spread at about 9.30 am ET across selected markets, including Fox affiliates in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Atlanta and a Nexstar-owned stop in St. Louis, the webpage content was altered to show offensive Nazi pictures.
The concerned advertising agency, USIM, had submitted the business to television stations the day before, giving assurance of glad review, according to the New York Post.
Early site searches conducted by Fox and Nexstar executives revealed just standard athletic clothing that could be purchased.
Before the Super Bowl, West, then known as Ye, posted racist articles on X that was offensive. His profile was later banned as a result of these articles.
On Tuesday, Shopify terminated the Yeezy online business in addition to that, citing plan violations and fake commerce techniques.
Amidst all the discussion, his talent agency 33 &, West ditched Kanye and representative Daniel McCartney took to Instagram Stories, saying,” Effective immediately, I am no longer representing YE ( F/K/A Kanye West ) due to his recent harmful and cruel comment that myself nor 33 &, West you have for,’ McCartney said. ‘ Peace and love to all ‘”.
Doug Livingston, president of USIM, confirmed that their previous vetting found no objectionable content. The agency, hired recently by Yeezy LLC executives, ended their partnership on Friday following West’s social media posts.
Regional Super Bowl advertisements are subject to different approval standards than national commercials, which are governed by Fox and NFL approval.
The NFL issued a statement Tuesday denouncing antisemitism and clarifying their non-involvement in the advertisement’s approval or broadcast.
Regional advertisement slots are a more affordable option to national Super Bowl commercials, which can run for up to$ 8 million for 30 seconds. In Los Angeles, local slots were priced at approximately$ 1 million.
Public figures demanded West’s removal from X, prompting immediate criticism from organizations like the Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee.
This episode strengthens West’s history of antisemitic statements, which have led to the termination of agreements with companies like Gap and Adidas.
His previous X suspension for posting offensive imagery in 2022 was voided in mid-2023, though with restrictions on advertising and monetization.
