In what the White House described as a diplomatic thaw that could improve negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, Marc Fogel, an British history professor who was unfairly detained by Russia, has been released and returned to the US. The Russian government announced on Wednesday that a Russian national was freed in the US in trade for Moscow’s release of British Marc Fogel. Fogel and a specific minister for President Trump, Steve Witkoff, left Russia and was brought to the White House later on Tuesday. As he stood next to Trump, Fogel said,” I feel like the luckiest man on Earth right now. Trump stated that Wednesday would see the release of another American. The US will relieve Russian Alexander Vinnik, a suspected crime fiend, as part of an trade with Russia, the NYT reported on Wednesday. Vinnik operated BTC-e, once one of the nation’s largest crypto markets.
