Democrats and the mainstream media, including NBC, have blasted the Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ), which is led by Elon Musk and under President Donald Trump for the first time. Democrats are being told “no” to receiving millions of dollars to advance their democratic goals at the price of British citizens, which is truly extraordinary.
The spare cuts were described by NBC News as” an extraordinary effort to reduce the federal labor and reduce federal programs.” The idea of removing waste and inefficiency from the federal government is not novel, according to the Times Leader. Nor does the notion of using commercial business practices from civilians as models for enhancing operational processes hold any.
The notion is thus not unprecedented, in truth, as both were initially not only proposed but even implemented, by President Dwight Eisenhower. Republicans ran on a platform in the 1952 elections, accusing the Democrats of “agnizantly deprived our citizens of precious liberties by seizing never-given rights” and “working (unceasingly ) to achieve their goal of national socialism,” according to the Times Leader.
The colonel who helped the Allies in Europe defeat the Nazi regime even properly balanced the national budget twice during his first term.
According to the report, Eisenhower used a three-pronged approach to address growing issues caused by misuse and inadequacy:
Second, drawing from his military qualifications, he sought to apply a military-like performance in the Executive Office itself.
Next, he successfully achieved both investing cuts and decreases in company employees. Of course, this led agencies to complain ( sound familiar? ) that they were being made to do more with less.
Third, in a shift foreshadowing DOGE, Eisenhower announced that he had created a three-man commission named the President’s Advisory Committee on Government Organization. Eisenhower’s DOGE was composed of Eisenhower’s nephew Milton, Nelson Rockefeller, and Arthur Flemming. Rockefeller, as we all know, was a pretty rich, successful business ( sound familiar? ), while Flemming was therefore serving as the Civil Service Commissioner.
In summary, the columnists ascertain that DOGE isn’t’ extraordinary’ but that Donald Trump is just doing it better than Eisenhower:” DOGE’s targets are far from a traditional anomaly. However, DOGE has a unique appeal than that. For perhaps the first day in the operational country’s past, America is looking to destroy an until-now unchallenged and unregulated bureaucracy”.
