The US Department of Education has been criticized for its investing as the country continues to fall in the world’s knowledge positions, according to US President Donald Trump.
He has called the DOE a” fraud job”, ordered fast budget cuts, and is pushing for its shutdown, Fox News information.
‘ We’re ranked no. 40 ‘
Trump said to writers from the Oval Office on Wednesday that he had seen a statement that claimed the US was 40th worldwide in schooling despite paying the highest student fees.
” Look at the Department of Education. It’s a huge fraud job”, Trump said. They gave the world’s leading nations a major spot. We’re ranked No. 40, but we’re ranked No. 1 in one office: cost per instructor. We are ranked No. 1 in the world in terms of per pupil spending more than any other nation does. 40″.
Trump made reference to the US’s prior position of 38th place, but claimed a recent review showed that it had fallen even further.
” As big as it is ,]China ] is ranked in the top five, and that’s our … primary competitor”, he stated. ” So, if we’re ranked No. 40, that means something’s actually wrong”.
Executive commands on learning
Trump signed two executive orders next quarter that aim to reshape the educational system. The other order supported school choice initiatives while removing federal funding from K-12 schools that teach critical race theory ( CRT ).
Kids from across the US have weighed in on the inclusion of CRT and another contentious subjects in education at school board meetings over the years. During his campaign, Trump promised to cut funding for schools that promote CRT, transgender philosophy, and “any other improper racial, sexual, or political articles on our kids”.
The Trump presidency is pushing big education reforms, with reports suggesting that DOE could be completely shut down by officials as test scores decline globally.
Trump has made it abundantly clear that there will be restrictions on learning investing. He reaffirmed his claim that the department is wasting taxpayer money while failing students by saying,” I want it to be closed immediately.”
Cutting training saving
As part of a broader effort to slash wasteful spending, Trump has directed the department of government efficiency ( DOGE ), led by Elon Musk, to review federal expenses. This year, DOE was placed on the chopping block.
On Monday, DOGE announced it was cutting$ 881 million across 89 DOE deals. Among these cuts,$ 101 million was allocated to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ( DEI ) training. One of the qualified educational initiatives was aimed at teaching educators how to “help students understand/interrogate the intricate histories involved in tyranny, and help students recognize areas of opportunity and power on an individual and collective foundation.”
” Your tax dollars were spent on this”, Musk wrote about the DOE’s investing.
