During his two-day visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with technical large and the country’s richest man, Elon Musk, on Thursday. The conversation with the Tesla CEO covered key themes like as” space, technology, and development”. This significant gathering occurred prior to PM Modi’s scheduled meetings with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
PM Modi’s itinerary included engagements with several key figures, including the US director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, US national security advisor ( NSA ) Michael Waltz, and Indian-American Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy.
After speaking with Musk, PM stated on X:” Had a very good meet with Elon Musk in Washington, DC. We discussed different problems, including those he is passionate about such as storage, freedom, technologies, and innovation. I talked about India’s work towards transformation and furthering’ Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.'”
Elon Musk, who is currently in charge of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency ( DOGE ), is a significant member of the Trump administration.
A White House national mentioned that the Trump administration had been appreciative of India’s first trade signs ahead of the Modi-Trump meeting, giving hope to a” hardened good” bilateral trade deal by 2025.
Technology cooperation was also highlighted as a vital area of focus, with planned discussions on semiconductors, important nutrients, and supply chain resilience. The official stated that presentations in these fields would strengthen India-US assistance on emerging technologies.
The US sees India as a critical person in its Indo-Pacific approach and regional balance, with a prospective contribution to promoting peace in Europe.
The official continued, adding that PM Modi and President Trump are interested in talking about political initiatives involving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Also, the strong personal friendship between Prime Minister Modi and Trump was emphasised, citing their previous public commitments and shared value.
