Donald Trump, leader, backed the Department of Government Efficiency research into alleged fraud and spend at the Internal Revenue Service on Thursday.
Trump has long criticised the IRS, making numerous claims on his 2024 plan path that it poorly targets republicans for political reasons. The senator proposed replacing the IRS with a new External Revenue Office after taking office in January. According to the president and his friends, the money from the new Trump-era taxes would make up for the loss of federal income taxes.

Simply before Trump’s fresh bilateral tax plan signing ceremony, Gavin Kliger and other DOGE officers reportedly arrived at IRS office on Thursday evening.
During the meeting, Trump told investigators that” the Internal Revenue Service may be looked at like anyone”.
The senator recently stated that he was personally directing Musk and Depends to conduct targeted investigations, adding that he had not already identified any government agencies or departments that DOGE should ignore.
” Really about everybody’s going to be looked at. They’re doing a devil of a career. It’s an awesome job they’re doing”, he continued on Thursday. ” I call it the power of super-geniuses, but it’s tower, and they go up, and they talk to some of the individuals about specific payments, and they get all tongue-tied because these people get it. They’re really clever citizens”.
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR ) claimed that DOGE’s IRS audit “means Musk’s henchmen are in a position to dig through a trove of data about every taxpayer in America”.
Wyden added that any potential disruptions in people receiving their tax payments for 2024 could be the result of DOGE’s assessment.
The leader had promised to “fight for” on the campaign trail, but Musk earlier this month made it known that DOGE had targeted Social Security, the world’s largest retirement benefit plan.
Musk argued that DOGE had found a number of people” who are 150 years old” or who are also missing any identifying info from the Social Security recipients list without providing any evidence.

The White House and Depends members did not respond to inquiries about the Social Security or IRS reviews.
