JERUSALEM: The International Committee of the Red Cross, which has facilitated the continued hostage-prisoner transfers between Israel and Hamas, said Friday it was “very concerned” about the condition of the remaining victims held in Gaza.
” The most recent release businesses reinforce the urgent need for ICRC exposure to those held captive. The victims ‘ problems continue to prey on us, the Red Cross said in a statement released on X.
” We have consistently stressed that transfer and exchange operations should be conducted in a respectable and secure manner.
” The ICRC may proceed our efforts to see all captives released, until the last prisoner is returned.”
Since Israel and Hamas ‘ stalemate was struck on January 19, the two organizations have engaged in five hostage-prisoner exchanges.
In front of a crowd of Palestinians gathered to see their launch in Gaza during the second trade on February 8, Hamas forced three captives to express their gratitude to their captors.
The ICRC called on Hamas to ensure that future transfers are more private and dignified because of the victims ‘ emaciated appearance, which shocked the hostages ‘ families and the rest of the world.
The second hostage-prisoner transfer is scheduled for Saturday.
