According to her complaint about a female person on the women’s tennis team, Batie-Smoose believes she was “targeted.”
A previous San Jose State University volleyball coach reported discovering a bullet hole in her house on Monday, believing it was in response to her opposition to male players in women’s sports.
The Scotts Valley Police Department said the home of Melissa Batie-Smoose ( pictured ) was vandalized with a pellet gun, and they are investigating, Fox News reports.
Batie-Smoose was house when the shot was fired, but no one was harmed, according to the statement.
The former assistant women’s tennis coach said she believes she was targeted because of her pro-women’s sports approach.
” It can’t be a coincidence”, she told Fox News. ” I’ve never seen this happen, and in our town, I talked to neighbors who have lived there for ten years, and I’ve never seen a robbery it, let alone someone shooting at people in their home,” said one resident.
In the fall, Batie-Smoose filed a prejudice complaint against the school regarding its decision to allow female participant Blaire Fleming, who identifies as women, to compete on the women’s group, The College Fix reported.
The school suspended her soon afterwards, and afterwards did not renew her lease.
Additionally, some team members expressed concerns about Fleming, and some opposing teams forfeited more than play in a game with a female person.
The former coach and a number of female players are already parties to a lawsuit challenging athletics bodies that permitted male athletes to compete in women’s events. Fox News reports more:
Batie Smoose claimed that she was in a virtual meeting with ICONS individuals that day that the incident occurred.
She spoke with the lead attorney, Bill Bock, and the Mountain West Conference tennis people who were playing in the complaint. As they were discussing the legal battle and the NCAA’s fresh legislation regarding female registration, Batie-Smoose heard glass crack in the background.
” I hear this big sound and it sounds like glass breaking, and at first I thought,” What just happened?” Where did that noise come from? ‘ And finally, when it registered, I look over to the screen and I see the gun gap”.
Batie-Smoose claimed that she called her father, telling him to call the police, and crawled on the floor behind her sofa. The woman’s neighborhood window was shot at the pellet.
She added that it is” crazy” for the police department to categorize the affair as mere theft.
” So it’s just considered graffiti even though it can hurt you because it might not be a weapon,” the statement goes. Batie-Smoose said. ” That’s kind of mad to me. Regardless, if an item at that power comes to your mind, you’re going to get harmed. It’s insane to me”.
Additionally, the school issued a statement in relation to the incident.
We are concerned to learn about this disturbing event, and we hope that police can track down the culprits. Our thoughts are with the Batie-Smoose home”, San Jose State told Fox News.
Last week, President Donald Trump signed an executive order preventing female runners who identify as feminine from competing in women’s sports, which attracted more attention than the issue of sports and transgender people, The Fix reported.
