A man in France has confessed to murdering an 11-year-old woman, claiming he was angry after losing a match of Fortnite, according to French Media.
Owen L., a 23-year-old poor man, claimed to be the suspect when he started an explanation with another participant who insulted him while he was playing the video game. Enraged, he left his home in Epinay-sur-Orge, Essonne, on February 7 to wander off his indignation. What followed was a horrible murder, however.
Prosecutor Grégoire Dulin said Owen originally planned to “rob or steal money from someone to relax down” but rather “accidentally” crossed lines with 11-year-old Louise Lasalle, who was on her way home from school. She spotted her cell phone while wearing a thread around her neck and made a decision to pursue her.
He allegedly deceived Louise into following him into the wilderness by pretending to have lost anything. Once they were alone, he threatened her with a blade, demanding money. When she screamed, he panicked, pushed her to the earth, and stabbed her. No signs of sexual abuse were found next to her figure, despite the fact that her phone had been discovered.
Officers discovered Louise’s figure on February 8, 12 days after her relatives reported her missing. Eventually, investigators discovered adult DNA on her hands.
The suspect had also tried to lure another child into the woods that morning, but she refused, French media reported.
Owen L. eventually admitted to having “done something critical” with his partner. He reportedly disposed of the crime tool, bleached his garments, and threw them away. His 24-year-old girl has been indicted for failing to report a crime.
The believe, who lived with his parents, had a criminal record for minor offences. In April of that year, his older sister even called the police about his violent and aggressive behavior.
Owen L. is now in police custody, facing claims for the terrible shooting.
