Does this appear to you to be a completely nation?
Last year, about 60 Indiana University student activists braved the stormy weather in opposition to President Trump’s plan to arrest illegal immigrants from the country.
Various speakers ripped the president’s “extreme level of brutality” and “dehumanization” against the undocumented and BIPOC ( black, Indigenous, people of color ) individuals, the Indiana Daily Student reports.
One activist told the crowd that Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s ( ICE ) “real mission” is to “make us lose hope in this racially discriminatory system” and asked “does this sound like a free country to you” ? ,  ,
Another remarked,” We need to visit for IU to become a sanctuary school to protect our own area. This would mean implementing a plan to protect unauthorized students on campus and forbid ICE officers from visiting without a permit.
Slogans on protesters ‘ symptoms read” My expat parents , work harder than your chairman!”! ” Mexicans aren’t going anywhere”, and” Without immigrants there would be no USA”!
From the account:
Some speakers voiced the evening’s theme of unity and community.
Gisel Vergara, a freshman at IU, said,” It is important to me because it is my folks and my society.” We may just get each other up, especially in this kind of circumstances. I am not the child of an expatriate, but this still impacts me”.
Saidy Rivera, a rookie, attended the rally for a different purpose.
” My indicator says that I’m the tone of the home. I’m around primarily for this reason, so I can speak up and support them,” said Rivera.
Traditional Latino music and demonstrators dancing up completed the peaceful rally.
Sarah Alhaddad, a candidate for undergraduate state vice president, reminded her brother protesters what happened to an anti-Israel camp early next month.
You saw how those police bullied us, and they will never bother to punish you in the same way,” said Alhaddad. I’m going to be the voice in [ …] Student Government, which I wish I had when everything was going on with the camp last time.” All of our problems are interconnected.
Alhaddad even serves on the IU Palestine Solidarity Committee, according to her LinkedIn page. The native Council on American Islamic Relations just deemed Indiana U. a “hostile school” for Muslim, Palestinian, and Arab students.
