According to an Ithaca College doctor,” I always felt like gender is mostly a way to control folks.”
A transsexual professor at Ithaca College writes about “undoing” the concept of “gender” in a new text on French literature.
Professor Mat Fournier’s publication,” Dysphoric Modernism: Undoing Gender in French Literature”, makes the argument that “gender files control world” and “dysphoria is important to everyone regardless of gender and physical orientation”, The Intricate information.
” By undoing sex, I knew that I’m looking at the period of time where identity — that is the female linear, male or female as we know it today — started to arise”, Fournier told the paper.
Along with teaching French, the doctor is an online part of the Women’s, Gender, and Gender Reports program at the secret, New York school. Fournier even declares to be a transgender man.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Fournier said the “idea of femininity and masculinity” began to” crystalize … as heterosexual”.
The professor said,” In the book, I’m trying to explain how identity and those contemporary female meanings prevent freedom and individual distinction.
Dysphoria is not just a trait experienced by trans individuals either, Fournier said.
” But what I’m arguing in the book is that distress applies to everyone, not just those of us who truly experience it. Anyone can experience the limits of gender”, the doctor said.
” I always felt like sex is mostly a way to control people”, Fournier told the newspaper.
Fournier said,” I also saw how the concept of the criticism of sex is frequently even sexist and racist,” while looking at gender in 20th century European literature. Because they are focused on promoting gender and dominant masculinity for their own gain, I observed how these people are not seeing imperialism and how they are never seeing structural racism in France and Europe.
The book was described by Columbia University Press as a “groundbreaking transgender analysis of European contemporary literature.”
However, the book comes at a time when the contemporary sex movement is receiving more and more negative press.
According to an executive order, President Donald Trump declared it” the policy of the United States to identify two women, both male and female.” Additionally, it acknowledges that” [t]hese women are grounded in basic and unmistakable reality and are not flexible.”
Some well-known scientists have also made an outcry about the matter, claiming that sex is linear and cannot be altered.
