Senator Chuck Schumer was criticized by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt for blaming US President Donald Trump for the helicopter crash that occurred in Toronto, Canada. During an interview on” America Reports” on Tuesday, Leavitt slammed Schumer’s say that Trump’s reductions to the national aircraft government’s labor contributed to the accident.
Chuck Schumer’s statement about doing so while the investigation is still being investigated is “incredibly careless,” Leavitt said.
The Delta Air Lines helicopter, which departed from Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport on Monday, crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The plane was filmed on video slamming down before flipping onto its leading side as flames started to burn. All 80 people survived the crash, although 18 sustained wounds, including three in critical condition.
Following the accident, Schumer took to social media to chastise Trump for the event, arguing that his administration’s labor decreases at the FAA had made heat go less safe.
” We keep seeing these situations day after day, but I’m thankful that everyone in the journey occurrence in Toronto that took off from Minneapolis is secure. Trump is also implementing significant layoffs at the FAA, including health experts, and reducing the health of our skies, Schumer wrote in a series of X-post posts.
Schumer more said,” To those asking whether it matters that the jet’s place was in Canada: The aircraft took off from Minneapolis. The FAA was also responsible for inspecting the aerospace products, and Trump just let go of FAA security professionals”.
Schumer’s remarks came after Trump claimed Biden-era FAA regulations caused a dangerous collision between an American Airlines helicopter and an Army aircraft at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which left 67 people dead.
Lake strongly pushed up against Schumer’s comments, pointing out that American air-traffic controllers, never the FAA, were responsible for directing the Delta journey at the time of the accident.
Speaking to” America Reports” co-anchor John Roberts, she explained,” And as you rightly pointed out, John, this accident however took place in American aircraft with American air-traffic devices overseeing it”.
Leavitt likewise disputed Schumer’s state regarding Trump’s FAA labor cuts. ” And the FAA is the fact that neither Secretary Duffy nor this novel leadership have let air traffic controllers leave. Secretary Duffy, she claimed, has put a lot of focus on hiring the best and brightest air traffic controllers who want to be a part of the FAA.
She farther defended Trump’s plans, highlighting his efforts to ensure merit-based getting within the FAA. Additionally, President Trump authorized a pretty solid executive order to ensure that the FAA and all other federal government agencies are focused on getting on merit and skill-based grounds. We want the best and the brightest, the most skilled people in positions particularly of public health at the FAA, the department of transportation, and all departments across this provincial government, so we can best provide the British people”.
Leavitt criticized the Biden administration and former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg for allegedly undermining aviation safety. ” They sat on their hands when it came to aviation safety for four years”, she remarked.
