On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order making in-vitro fertilization ( IVF ) free for those who struggle with infertility to start their families.
Within 90 days, the order directed the Regional Policy Council, led by Vince Haley, to provide Trump with a list of policy recommendations for “aggressively reducing out-of-pocket and wellness program costs for IVF care.”
” Americans need reliable access to IVF and more affordable treatment options, as the cost per cycle can range from$ 12, 000 to$ 25, 000″, the order said.
” Providing support, knowledge, and access to affordable reproduction treatments can help these individuals navigate their way to marriage with hope and confidence, it added”
This comes after Trump pledged to free IVF during his campaign after Democrats claimed that Republican opposition to abortion threatened to restrict access to the process.
” Under the Trump administration, your government will pay for — or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for — all costs associated with IVF care”, Trump said at a rally in Michigan.
” We want more children, to put it quite nicely”, he added.
” Promises made. Promises kept:” President Trump only signed an Executive Order to Develop Access to IVF”! Twitter handle for White House press director, Karolina Leavitt.
Trump’s attitude on pregnancy has varied over the years. He had formerly considered backing a 15-week nationwide abortion ban, but he eventually decided that state-level control of abortion regulation was required.
In-vitro reproduction is a feasible option when a lady struggles to conceive, and it’s typically tried after another less costly fertility treatments have failed.
In an effort to conceive a pregnancy, the woman’s eggs are taken from a woman’s uterus and combined with a man’s sperm in a laboratory to create a implanted embryo.
IVF is performed in processes, and it may get more than one. Whether the egg and sperm are from a couple or from a donation, the procedure is performed.
