Thousands gathered on Monday at the Capitol Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., to protest against President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency.
According to Fox News, Monday’s protest in D.C. was part of the “Not My Presidents Day” and “No Kings Day” protests across the country, which were organized by the 50501 Movement.
Fox 5 reported that the 50501 Movement is a group of anti-Trump protesters united against what they perceive as “racism and tyranny” under the Trump administration, particularly with the administration’s recent decision to cut thousands of federal government jobs. According to the outlet, the 50501 Movement’s goal is to conduct 50 protests in all 50 states.
“I’m here to protest the president, protest Elon Musk, and protest all the executive orders. He is not our president,” one protester named Jennifer told Fox News. “Everything he’s done is a destruction of this country. He only cares about himself and his pockets and the pockets of his cronies. He’s not here to help any of the working Americans. Everything he’s doing is mass destruction. He is a weapon of mass destruction.”
Mary Hart, another activist who was at Monday’s protest, told Fox News that as an “educator,” she was “scared” for her students.

“I’m scared for my trans students. I’m scared for my country. I just had to show up and be part of the resistance,” Hart said. “They’re being targeted and dehumanized by multiple people in this government. They’re coming to school scared, interrupting their learning. They’re being targeted and bullied by people who are emboldened by this administration, and it’s not right.”
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Raws Alerts shared a video from Monday’s massive protest in Washington, D.C.
Raws Alerts noted that anti-Trump protesters were spotted with multiple left-wing signs and banners, while others repeatedly chanted “Gulf of Mexico” following the president’s executive order that renamed the “Gulf of Mexico” to “Gulf of America.” Protesters also chanted “Stop the coup” and “Elon Musk is a Nazi,” according to Raws Alerts.
In response to the “Not My Presidents Day” protests, Trump’s principal deputy press secretary, Harrison Fields, told Fox News, “This Presidents Day, we honor the leadership of President Trump. He received a resounding mandate from the American people and swiftly took action to deliver on his promises of restoring common sense policies, strengthening the economy and re-establishing America’s dominance on the world stage.”
Fields added, “President Trump is a leader for all Americans, and he will continue to prioritize America’s interests in every decision.”
