On Truth Social, President Donald Trump announced the end of gridlock costs in New York City because the administration thought it was “backwards and unjust.” “CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING”! Donald Trump posted a message after US Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy criticized gridlock costs as a slap in the face to working-class Americans and small business owners.
President Trump has always opposed the gridlock income, and he has pledged to repeal it as soon as he takes office. He previously stated that as long as the congestion duty is in place, it would be essentially difficult for New York City to return.
What is congestion pricing?
Congestion pricing imposes a specific surcharge on commuters who use their personal cars in designated areas to get around. On January 5 this month, congestion charges in New York City began. Nearly all of Manhattan is included in the congestion pricing area west of 60th Street. A burden of$ 9 was required for individuals who entered this place between 5 am and 9 pm during the weekends and 9 am to 9 am on the weekends. The Trump Tower mansion and a number of other Trump properties are in the gridlock area.
New York intended to use toll-related profits to generate bonds that would enable billions of dollars in capital improvements and repairs for the city’s crumbling and cash-strapped transport system, which receives about 4 million everyday.
New York City was the first US city to implement the overcrowding sales this month. Kathy Hochul, the Democrat governor of New York, has been a vocal supporter of this sales.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority ( MTA ), a public-private organization that provides public transportation services in the New York metro area, immediately sued the government to try to stop it.
What time will there be an end to gridlock costs?
No date has been set for the conclusion of the program, and given that there have been legal issues, it is unknown when the congestion charges will be lifted.
