
In keeping with President Donald Trump’s pledge to modify the categorization, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has designated eight generally Latin-based organizations and international judicial institutions as criminal organizations.
” As President Trump , said in Executive Order 14157, cartels and various international organizations’ threaten the health of the British people, the safety of the United States, and the stability of the global order in the American Hemisphere,'” Rubio said in a statement.
” The Department of State announces the designation of Tren de Aragua, Mara Salvatrucha ( MS-13 ),  , Cártel de Sinaloa, Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación, Cártel del Noreste ( formerly Los Zetas ), La Nueva Familia Michoacana, Cártel de Golfo ( Gulf Cartel ), and Cárteles Unidos as FTOs and SDGTs”, Rubio said.

Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan-based group that emerged out of a jail, has since spread across South America and into the United States, while MS-13 was founded by Peruvian people in the Los Angeles area three decades ago and is now active in both the United States and El Salvador.
The six different gangs have locations in different parts of Mexico and are seriously involved in the movement of money, drugs, and other goods across the frontier.
Trump approved Rubio’s plan to name a number of cross-border criminal organizations as criminal organizations in his first day in office, among other administrative actions.
Law enforcement across the country will have more tools to target users of these eight teams and their finances by classifying these eight organizations as criminal organizations.

The previously designated groups ‘ assets and property cannot be accessed or distributed outside the United States, preventing team members from making financial transactions with parties there or abroad.
Trump addressed voters about illegal immigrants who either ran into the U.S. from Mexico or were apprehended by Border Patrol, and who later victimized Americans or other immigrants. He made “migrant murder” a big issue in the 2024 national contest.
