
As health officials report 90 cases of the disease, which can be fatal, in Texas and eight circumstances in New Mexico, a measles epidemic is still permeating Texas and New Mexico.
In a Friday media transfer, the , Texas Department , of State Health and Human Services announced that an outbreak of influenza had been reported in the South Plains region of the state.
” At this time, 90 cases have been identified since soon January”, the press release said. ” Sixteen of the people have been hospitalized. Five of the situations are vaccinated. The remainder are unvaccinated, or their vaccination status is unknown”.
Due to the “highly deadly character of this disease,” the Texas Department  of State Health and Human Services warned that further cases of measles are “likely to appear in the outbreak location and the surrounding communities.” Additionally, Texas authorities announced that the Department of State Health and Human Services is working with regional health ministries to conduct an investigation into the measles outbreak.
The recent influenza outbreak is the state’s worst reported measles outbreak in more than 30 years, according to a Texas department of state heath and human services official.

Recently, Influenza cases have also been reported in New Mexico. Three measles cases were identified in Lea County in one year, according to the New Mexico Department of Health’s announcement next Friday. The government’s total number of cases, according to Fox News, increased to eight with the three confirmed cases.
The New Mexico Department of Health stated in a press release last week that” the relationship between the influenza outbreak in Texas and New Mexico is unconfirmed.”
The New Mexico Department of Health’s deputy state epidemiology, Dr. Chad Smelser, stated,” We are investigating every suspected circumstance, and we encourage sick people with signs consistent with influenza to seek medical care.”
