Ruby Dhalla, a legislator of Indian descent, was set to lose on Friday to the Liberal Party, putting an end to her potential as Canada’s future prime minister. Describing the dismissal as” shocking”, Dhalla claimed that the “establishment got threatened”.
Dhalla, a former MP who represented Brampton-Springdale from 2004 to 2011, expressed her surprise and sorrow over the expulsion.
She stated in a statement posted on X that she had just been informed by the Liberal Party of Canada that she had been disqualified from the leadership contest. This choice is both disturbing and greatly disappointing, particularly since it was leaked to the media”.
She disputed the falsehood and constructed nature of the accusations against her, claiming that the group’s actions were motivated by concern for her growing support. ” The techniques used to eliminate me from this competition only confirm what we already knew—our communication was resonating, we were winning, and the creation felt threatened”, Dhalla said. ” One day it was unusual disturbance, one day it was battle violations—all in an attempt to keep me from debating Carney and winning”.
Despite the setback, Dhalla vowed to continue her lobbying, saying,” I will continue to stand up for People &, struggle for Canada”.
Dhalla took a strong stand against deporting illegal immigrants in the leadership contest next month. She pursued a job as a dentist before moving to Ontario and was born and raised in Winnipeg during the time of former prime minister Paul Martin. She after transitioned into politics. She describes herself as a” self-made woman and investor” dedicated to the Liberal Party and Canada.
