US artist Hunter Schafer, known for her part in HBO’s reach show” Euphoria”, spoke out against the Donald Trump-led supervision after her passport identity marker was changed to men.
Schafer attributed the change to President Trump’s policies, which allow just male and female gender to be recognized under a federal law.
Schafer explained that her renewed card was marked men despite having women identity documents for almost ten years in a TikTok video that was shared on Thursday and afterward reposted on Friday.
” I filled out all the way I would normally.” I put sexual, and when it was picked up now and I opened it up, they had changed the symbol to male”, Schafer said, showing her card. She mentioned that a regeneration was needed after the theft of her previous passport the year before.
Trump’s presidency has enforced a tight two-gender plan, halting the release of documents with an” X” marker for non-binary people.
The state department’s website states that passports will only be issued with an” M” or” F” marker corresponding to the individual’s biological sex at birth.
Schafer suggested that her baby document, which also lists her as man, good led to the change. She said,” It is the first time this has happened to me since I changed my female symbol, and I do think it is as a direct result of the presidency our nation is currently operating under.”
Schafer clarified that she shared her story to highlight the potential effects on another trans people rather than to show love. ” Trans individuals are wonderful. We are never going to quit existing. I’m never going to prevent being transgender. But, it does make life a little harder. A letter and a card can’t change that, and f*** this management”, she said, noting that she might want to share her transgender personality to border officials when traveling.
Republicans are using trans rights in cultural and political conversation to bring the issue up again. In a related development, US health minister Robert F Kennedy Jr announced new guidance establishing “mother” as a female caregiver and “father” as a female family, reinforcing the government’s stance on biological sex as eternal.
