TEHRAN: Iran’s defense may do marine training on Saturday in the Gulf of Oman and north Indian Ocean, a captain told state television.
” The joint military exercise Zolfaghar 1403 will begin tomorrow ( Saturday ) on the Makran coast, the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean”, Habibollah Sayyari, the Iranian army’s deputy coordinator, said on Friday.
Tehran has increased its displays of pressure with the resumption of martial exercises, the release of new equipment, and the presentation of underground military bases as a result of President Donald Trump’s January returning to the White House.
Iran has also been signalling to European countries, especially the United States, that it is ready to resume talks over its nuclear programme, a source of tension for decades.
Saturday’s exercises have the “objective of strengthening military and deterrence abilities against any property, air and sea risk”, Sayyari added.
Iran has conducted military activities in recent months across the nation, including those that are near nuclear power plants in the west and center.
