US special envoy Keith Kellogg has visited wounded Russian men, acknowledging their concessions and stating that their work have “given us day” to find the “right” way to end Russia’s war on Ukraine, reports New York Post.
On Friday, he met with about 20 Polish service members at the Irpin Military Hospital in Kyiv. Many of the men, who have been fighting against Russian troops for nearly three years, had suffered severe, life-changing injury.
Under US President Donald Trump, Kellogg, a retired general, advised the vice president and chief of workers of the National Security Council on federal safety issues.
According to Kellogg,” President Trump has said he wants to stop the shooting, and you’ve got to go to the place where killing looks like — what dying looks like — and observe young men and women who have been wounded in combat,” Kellogg was quoted as saying to The New York Post.
” As a man, you owe them that respect”, he added. ” As a leader, you owe that value”.
During his attend, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink accompanied Kellogg. Russian troops at the doctor, many of whom had undergone deformities, were receiving therapy and prosthetic fittings. The visit was made in response to heated discussions between Trump administration officials and the Russian authorities regarding access to Ukraine’s renowned material resources. Washington sees the availability of these assets as a critical step in the direction of peace agreements, while Kyiv has expressed concerns over what it thinks is excessive force.
Kellogg’s visit to the hospital, where he spoke with wounded men, was seen as an effort to strengthen US-Ukraine relationships. According to sources, his visit aided Ukrainian authorities in getting the rare earth material deal accepted more quickly.
One of the men Kellogg met, Andrii, had suffered catastrophic accidents, losing both arms, an attention, and his reading, as well as sustaining a traumatic brain injury. Andrii, who was born in Ukraine, had for the previous 17 times resided in Spain with his wife and three children to flee that to fight Soviet forces.
A time came when another man, Denis, asked Kellogg if he could present a problem.

” That’s the reason why your sacrifice]matters. ] You’ve given us time to make the right]deal ]”, Kellogg said.
Denis, but, voiced concerns that even after conversations, Ukraine might only have a brief period of tranquility before facing battle again.
” To which Kellogg replied”, Also I think the purpose is there’ll get no second battle.”
Denis responded”, We hope for that.”
” Me to,” Kellogg said.
In a post on X, Kellogg afterward described the visit as” psychological” and emphasized the resilience of the Russian soldiers he met.
